Well, so much for this terrible world economy, then. Looks like we're all doing fine!

Those saying people are wasting money...many older phones can be sold used without a contract for nearly same price as upgrading...I for instance despite loving my s4 will likely upgrade right after 2 years cause it will only cost 100 bucks after selling the s4

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

Impressive, but iOS 7 on 200million and it hasn't even been out a week that's crazy

Yeah, it's amazing how many iPhones are in circulation.  What does iOS 7 work on?  How far back?

It works on iPhone 4 onwards, iPad 2 onwards and 5th gen iPods

As a sidenote; iOS7 rules. Best update ever. I recommend everyone with a iPhone 4 or higher, ie. everyone that's able to, to upgrade to iOS7.

I thought I heard a few people saying that for the 4 it's not such a good idea, minimum 4s and up seeing as it is a bit more of a resource hog (to be expected with more features).

Personally I have an iPhone 4, I can say that the update didn't cause any noticable slowdown in the speed of the OS itself. Maybe if you would put them side-by-side, but it's definitely not slow enough and there's no annoying stutter to ignore what the update has to offer. Some features like Airdrop and the 'dynamic background' aren't supported on mine though unlike on my father's iPhone 5 (don't know how that works with 4S's).

The thing that is definitely noticable is the lower battery-life however. I end the day with a lot less life left in it than I had with iOS6. Could even be up to a couple dozen percent less. Personally that's not really a problem for me, because I can recharge it at the end of every day. If you're not able to for whatever reason then it may be better to skip the update.

This madness needs to stop. What sucks the most is that a large portion of those sales are coming from people with perfectly good iPhone 3/3s/4/4s/5/What ever the fuck elses. Just throwing a way money and depleting resources.

Not really. Those phones get traded in for a discount (then refurbished and resold), sold privately on eBay, or handed down to relatives.

My launch weekend iPhone 3GS is actually still in active service after over four years total usage (probably not for much longer).

How many do they need to sell to break even?

With the crazy markups Apple put on their crap, probably about 1000 phones would see them profit

Why? I can't wait to buy my iPhone 5S... I'm serious here

I say this to android fanboys aswell just cant grasp if you already have an iphone 5 or galaxy s3 for that matter. I understand rich people doing it but to the extent that apple sells here this is crazy many people i know use the majority of their disposable income to be up with the latest. its pretty much the same device all your apps will still run the same
