Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Would you be a Nintendo fan if Mario had never existed?

Tagged games:

Mario is by a country mile Nintendo's biggest character and IP (IPs? Depends on who you ask). Heck, even enemies of the Nintendo kingdom played it back in the day and liked it. We all know Nintendo release a lot of Mario games so I'm wondering if Mario is the reason you're a Nintendo fan. If Mario didn't exist, would you have become a Nintendo fan in the first place back in the day? The question is primarily directed at Nintendo fans, but it could work for other people as well (if they hate Mario lol).

My first Nintendo game:

Would Nintendo be anything if Mario never existed? Would the NES have fallen flat on its face?

I don't remember what I was going to put here.

I played the original one and always liked mario! But I became a nintendo enthusiast after playing ocarina of time at a friends house!

My gaming career would not have started when it did but I'd still be a Nintendo fan today because of Zelda, Metroid and other franchises.

I like Zelda, Metroid, and fire Emblem games a whole lot more than Mario, so yea.

I played my first 3D mario a few years ago and 2D mario with my wii u. So yes.

Yes I would be a fan but I probably would of had a Sega Genesis (maybe). Then again, where I was living, SEGA wasnt that popular to begin with so...I guess I would of still had a SNES ;p.

I got introduced to two sides of gaming at the time from two different sets of cousins (one had a NES and one had a Genesis).

Anyways, there is still Donkey Kong, Zelda and third parties which would of got me hooked in the early 1990s.

Pokemon would keep me interested in the late 1990s.

It would be a odd void with no Mario, but I can pretty much say that I would still be a Nintendo fan.

I would have played whatever my Dad bought for me. But Zelda would have kept me around. I do not like change. Sony was change. But I played it at my Sister in laws house. And watched Skinemax as well.

That's funny because from generation to generation Nintendo tends to change their consoles the most.
