Seems that the PS4/Xb one diff is easier to quantify than the PS3/360 diff. But from looking at the best 360 ever put out vs the best PS3 ever put out it seems like PS3 vs. 360 is

Yes, both are trying to get money but Sony is doing this Playstation with Passion more than Money and trying to innovate games and technology for the best of Games and to the gamers.
So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.
PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.
Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.
Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

bullshit, they are both in it for the money, everything after that is marketing spin to convince you to part with your cash. Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo are all driven by corporate execs and marketing, they would ditch you in a heart beat if they didn't believe they could convince you to part with your cash.

I think you stopped reading after they said the PS4 will blow the Xbox One out of the water Specswise. It's Ok, you can admit it.

Come on dude, you've been here long enough.
Here on VGChartz we complain about journalists. Here on VGChartz we rub it in people's faces about how this sold more than that and how my console is better than yours. Here at VGChartz we like to complain, argue, overeact and even downright hate members of our own community if god forbid they don't create posts full of positivity.
We don't talk about games and their features and why this game is better than the one that came before it. We don't talk about gaming improvements and how it will make said game a better experience.
However, we do sometimes discuss how said game has a new feature and now makes features from another game look like shit.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

You are right about PS360 having more component differences, but what does that have to do with a difference in power? That's like saying a steam powered car and an electric car have almost the same top speed, therefor two gas cars must have the exact same top speed. Luckily for us the two systems being so similar makes it pretty straight forward to see how large the gap is and which system is stronger. With previous gens each system had its strengths and weaknesses. PS3 had a super powerful CPU but it was a bitch to tap that performance. On top of that it had split RAM. The 360 had a great GPU and a single pool of RAM but its CPU had nothing on the theoretical power of the CELL. Each system had its relative strengths and weaknesses. With Xbox One vs PS4 there is none of that. Same CPUs, same GPU architectures, same single pools of RAM, and a lot of the same part manufacturers. The only difference that isn't a black and white number is DDR3 + ESRAM vs GDDR5. This is the ONLY* power difference that is even close to being debatable. Everything else is PS4 is better, PS4 is better, PS4 is the same, PS4 is better**... Of course there is the debate on how much better the PS4 will be in real world examples, but it will be bigger than the PS360 difference I can guarantee you that. If you care for some bet about this, just PM me. We can discuss specifics. *Xbox One is believed to have a less taxing audio chip than PS4. It's also debatable yet most people ignore it since its effects on system performance are minimal. **Xbox One has more transistors and a higher GPU clock than PS4, but those numbers are meaningless on their own. |
to use this way to descirbe it:
Last gen, we had two cars with
different engine (CPU)
different tires (Input Media)
different wheel drive (GPU)
different gear drive (RAM)
and they had more or less the same top speed.
Now we have two cars with
same engine (CPU)
same tires (BluRay)
different wheel drive (GPU)
same gear drive (RAM)
and somehow we expect totally different results.
Anyway, todays games require bigger and better specs than ever before and to actually see a real difference the hardware-jump needs to be massive and not just 24%. Especially when developer make games to run on both systems.
My prediction is that the multiplat games on both systems will be almost identical this gen. Sure, the pixel counters will find something, but this won't matter overall.
Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Lol WTF? This dude ain't serious. Can't be
"A Xbox One and PlayStation 4 hardware comparison shows the main difference lies in the GPU and memory systems. The Xbox One has 768 GPU shader cores while the PS4 boasts 1152. As a comparison to the PC, the AMD Radeon HD 7990 has 4096 GPU shader cores, but that video card costs $1,000 alone."
This comparison made me smile, this is like comparing a Hyundai and Volvo family cars, then bring in a ferrari to the comparison and state it's just way more expensive so you shouldn't bother. :D

A few of the Xbox One difference I came up off the top of my head: Kinect - you can talk to your console - hey Xbox, look up this game/movie/tv show/actor/director/etc. Xbox. In addition to 'pause' 'rewind' all by your voice, etc. (It really useful when you live with it.) sony hasn't talk much about software integration (i'll admit) but the ps eye has been confirmed to read voice commands just like kinect. sony hasn't talked much (really at all) about their OS so far all we know ps4 already supports this. Motion Gaming included for up-to 6 players in the Xbox One, including heart rate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hi5kMNfgDS4 ..and no games that support that. i'll give you this one once we can stop "imagine the possibilities". Instant switching of games - demo: http://www.gamespot.com/video/xbox-one-interface-demo-6408651/ ps4 does this too. more to the point,. vita does it too and has been on the market for over a year now. Playing a game or watching while waiting for an online game que to come up. Can also be used to control your TV with you voice (or controller, or universal remote.) this is MSs one truely distinquishing characteristic as far as i'm concerned. Instantly recognizing you and logging you in, even if you switch controllers or places. as with voice commands, facial recongition for ps eye is confirmed. no word on software integration. Skype, video conference included in every Xbox One, can be 'snapped' to the side even when you are playing a game. ps4 has video conferencing too minus the skype branding. The Controller - the One controller takes the best of the Xbox 360's then add some other features, lower latency, more battery life, the biggest advancement is 'feedback triggers.' Having tried them I think they are going to be a great innovation in immersion and game feedback. (The PS4 has a 'touch pad' which I understand will be nice for browsing, but a bit awkward to use in games because of it's placement.) everything i've read puts the competition of the controllers at a wash as in equal. they are soo increadibly similar other than trigger feedback vs. touchpad. Many, many app, I know Sony will have many, but doesn't seem to have anything near the level of Xbox's. says who? neither side has given a full list of supported apps. Integration with you existing tablet through Xbox Smartglass your ipad, Windows Phone, Surface, Android Tablet, etc. (the PS4 can do similar but only with the Vita). false. ps4 can interface with vita but it also has an app that runs on IOs or Android and functions the same as smartglass for every feature i've seen either said advertise including using my IOs device as a game controller. Integration with Windows 8 apps. lulz. Xbox One will be running a version of DirecX 11.2, PS4 will be running OpenGL Similar: The both have sharing DVR Game features, Blu-ray, streaming, a form of friends, and gaming features. |
it's not that there are differences at all but the overall picture is really really similar. i mean hell, if you want to mark some of those top features as different then you'd better mark the DVR features as different to as ps4 has 3x the buffer and a dedicated share button..
