Forums - Microsoft Discussion - More Xbone 180 Confirmed. Microsoft To Announce Indie Self-Publishing, New Certification Process

How is it this 180 when they never had an official stance on indies for this upcoming generation. Amazing how certain people are allowed to title threads as well.

I just don´t want shitty or buggy games going rampant over the Live Marketplace.

Then don't buy them. No one's making you.

ok now I read it.... now what 180 again it's been a while since we know they are working on a new approach for indie publishing.

but ok

@pokoko if you include me in that lot fine. But I said self publishing would be a bad thing if it meant more crap in the indie store front or becomes a google play mess.... and I stand by it, if it is what will happen with the change of policy it will be BAD, because they will get at least one less customer ME... already today I completely stopped looking into the indie store because it's full of crap and I have no time to dig.... if it gets worst they are even less likely to get me back and there is no chance the one that already didn't care will come in
it will actually be counter productive for the big and quality games that come out on it being all tarnished by all that crust of crap they'll have to shine through....

indies are the future not the cloud.

cloud is already the present so yeah you are right and indie have a long road ahead before even coming close to be relevant for mass market so I guess you are right there too

They had no official stance on indies? That's news to me!

Did you miss the whole indies have to get a publisher and pay before releasing game on the Xbox One? An employee of ThatGameCompany has even commented on it on this very website. The maker of The World Of Tanks had this to say about it, among many other indies who commented on the matter in the last 2 months;

Again Microsoft never made a stance on what they were doing with indy dvelopers. Just because old policies were in place that still doesn't change the fact that Microsoft never publicly commited one way or the other. They didn't sit on stage at E3 and say indy developers still need a publisher and just change their minds now unlike the DRM stuff.

They did to devs... this is not a public policy after all... now they are changing it after the devs complained.

Uh oh, if this is true, there are going to be several super-duper angry Xbox supporters. Various people in other threads were saying that Microsoft's painful certification process is actually a GOOD thing and that self-publication would bring ruin and disaster to Xbox Live.

That is, unless they now reverse course and applaud Microsoft for the changes. That would be very interesting.

Well I fully expect the XB1 to flop now. Only Sony fanboys were complaining about the drm and indie policies and whatnot when the original console was announced, so Microsoft are now releasing a console aimed specifically at people that will never buy it.
