UPDATE!

“Game development is a long and arduous process,” he continued. “If you look at the history of the series, it took six years to go from Street Fighter II to Street Fighter III, and nine years to go from Street Fighter III to Street Fighter IV. Purely based on that it would probably take us until the year 2018 before Street Fighter V comes out. So I hope everyone will play Ultra Street Fighter IV for a long time.”

Yoshinori Ono Doesn’t Have the Budget to Make Street Fighter V Right Now

July 16, 2013 Written by Jason Dunning

After Capcom announced the Ultra Mega Hyper Overdrive Super Crazy Street Fighter IV Edition, Yoshinori Ono, Executive Producer on the Street Fighter franchise, was asked a few questions via his Twitter account.

The first one he decided to answer was if we might see Ultra Street Fighter IV on the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, with Yoshinori replying, “PS3/360/PC at this moment. Thanks .” The lack of a Wii U version was also brought up, with the simple response being, “So sry, we don’t have plan for Wii U now…”

Finally, on the subject of whether Yoshinori might secretly be working on Street Fighter V right now, he shot down any possibilities by saying, “I don’t have [Research and Development] budget and staff who they’re just only make [Ultra Street Fighter IV].” Once development wraps on Ultra, it seems like a given that production would start for Street Fighter V, but we probably won’t hear anything about the game for some time.

When do you think we might see Street Fighter V? Let us know in the comments below.

I think we'll get "Mega Extreme Street Fighter IV" before a SF V

Sadly, I won't doubt another iteration of SSF IV before a true sequel. What's interesting to me is that they swore this would never happen back when the original SF4 launched. They claimed they didn't want to duplicate the situation with SF2.

I wouldn't mind Street Fighter 5 a few years in. I know Capcom is milking Street Fighter 4 as hard as they can, but realistically, this is nothing compared to what they did during the PSX days. 3 Street Fighter 3s, 3 Street Fighter Alphas, two SNK games, and 5 Marvel games. That's not even all the fighters Capcom made at that time, Jo Jos, Darkstalkers etc. I think fighting games from Capcom need to be spaced out or else they'll run into the same troubles that the PSX games did.

That was their excuse for the relatively poor sales of SF X TK - cannibalization and a saturated (fighting game) market. However, a lot of people abstained from the game because of the lack of content and BS moves like on disc DLC. I think those were factors too.

I agree with space between titles. I'm not in a rush to play SFV to be honest, neither MvsC4. I would like a new Capcom vs SNK game though.

They really did screw themselves over with Street Fighter X Tekken.  Just looking at the combo system and the super system; it's actually what Street Fighter 4 should have been.  The game's content was fine, but the gems ruined it.

Well, they just pulled a classical Capcom, again. Doing everything to not please anybody....

Street Fighter II stopped being cool after Super or Hyper.

The sound of it is something quite atrocious.
