No. In fact, it may have gotten even less, as the higher price tag to pay for it all would have further depressed sales.

The Wii U's problems with third party support have nothing to do with computing power, everything to do with publishers mitigating risk or pursuing an ulterior strategy.

I think it would've made a difference to have the best looking versions of Black Ops 2 and Assassin's Creed 3 on a console.

And they probably would've gotten other games like BioShock Infinite IMO if it was easy to port PC assets over. Maybe even something like Metal Gear Rising. There wouldn't be a headache to developers having to squeeze PS3/360 projects without much power overhead and a different CPU layout if the system was just far ahead of the PS3/360 in terms of raw power. You could dump the game on there, up the res and have it running pretty easily.

And future games like Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III would likely be Wii U bound. Definitely I think the system would have more credibility with non-Nintendo fanatics and thus would have more credibility with publishers.

Well no one really wants another PS3/360 range system. People have had those consoles for years now, they want a real upgrade.

So all the issues are inter-connected.



No. Nintendo would either stick by their principles and quote real world performance figures or refuse to give specs. People would assume it's weak and wouldn't buy it. 3rd party publishers would see a small install base and avoid it. Plus it would cost around the same as an Xbox One making selling it even more difficult.

I think their current strategy is a good one for them, they just failed to get all of the software out that they had planned.

Yes, but only if the system was selling.

The Gamecube actually got a lot of exclusives closer to release and it kept getting multiconsole releases a few years in, but the further into that gen, PS2 sales dominating and everyone buying their multiconsole releases for the PS2, what sense is there to continue developing multiconsole for the Gamecube when most people aren't going to purchase your games on that console?   Resident Evil 4 was even a late exclusive and because of the abysmal sales, Capcom ported it over to the PS2, which Shinji Mikami apologized to Gamecube fans afterwards since he promised them it wouldn't be ported to another console.   The Gamecube got far more great exclusives in the first few years than the Wii did and had a bunch of good multiconsole titles.

For the Wii U there are 14 games that have sold 100,000 or more, everything else has sold worse.  You guys are blaming publishers and developers for not supporting your preferred console.  How about you guys support them for once and maybe they'll support you?  Those of you who actually support third parties, you're stuck with a fanbase who doesn't unfortunately.
