Forums - Sales Discussion - Even after Microsoft's reversal, PS4 will still handily outsell the Xbone

Xbox One will now sell as many units as PS4, says Pachter

The Xbox One u-turn on digital rights policies will see the platform claw back consumer belief in the platform and will sell as many units as the PS4, Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter has said.

"As far as today's announcement, we think that gamers will rejoice, and the focus will shift from Microsoft's onerous policies to the price differential between the Xbox One (at $499) and the PS4 (at $399)," wrote Pachter in a research note released today.

However, Pachter does not believe the price difference will prevent the Xbox One from matching the performance of the PS4.

"We are confident that with six months of focused messaging, Microsoft can fully level the playing field with Sony, and we expect the Xbox One to sell as many units as the PS4," he wrote.

You heard it from the man himself. Sorry, Xboxers!

Damn, I'm slow. Lock this shit.

So since he is always wrong does that mean the Xbox One will sell more or less consoles than PS4?

Nothing is gonna outsell anything with the word 'bone' in it.

Both. The 360 had the one up on the PS3 because of price and none of those gamers had loyalty to exclusives. They just buy the cheaper console as long as their favorite games are available.

In his defense, one of the consoles was indeed under $400. Just not both. Finish the phrase: "Even a broken clock...."

No, seriously. After the 3DS's launch, price drop, and now handily outstripping the competition, can we conclude that vidja game consoles are, indeed, elastic goods? A lot of preorders were sold because of the DRM, but a lot of people are also keeping those preorders because of the price difference. That adds up to a good bit of inertia.

doubt it. he must be talkn bout U.S.
