Forums - Sony Discussion - TLOU - the best looking console game (SPOILERS)

Lord of Uncharted - Aldro the Graphic here just going about my usual bizns'!

In my opinion and while I was sceptical at first, TLOU does indeed trump Uncharted 3 and God of War Ascension for the best graphics on the console to date. I will update this with more captures but for now, I'll keep it a bit spoiler free and just post some stuff that won't give away any heavy spoilers.

Do expect insane shots later on however.. believe me XD

Absolutely phenomenal. These guys will most definitely kick ass on the PS4.

Not that anyone cares but the top 5 visuals would for me go:

TLOU (2013) > UC3(2011) > God of War Ascension (2013) > UC2 (2009) > GoWIII (2010)

Around the Network

I'm sorry, Aldro, but I have the slight feeling that 3EYOND graphics will beat The Last of Us.

The game has few very minor graphics issues here and there, but overall it's absolutely gorgeous. In many ways, it's graphics are ahead of this generation. I mean the level of detail on the character models, in real time, is unheard of, even in Uncharted. Naughty Dog seriously outdid themselves with this game. I'm not even sure if the gaming industry actually deserves such a masterpiece, with all the BS people try to throw on it.

0331 Happiness is a belt-fed weapon

Maybe for the genre, I do think that a racer will take that crown though, just so much simpler to render amazing visuals in racing games. Also, one has to decide for oneself what "best looking" actually means.
In my opinion, Bastion and Eador: Masters of the Broken World are among the best looking games of this generation, mostly due to art direction and style.
Same goes for Dishonored.

That said though, The Last of Us certainly looks amazing.

I think the bigger and more complex environments in TLOU compensated for lesser visuals than UC3, but it still looks stunning.

I think for what they are trying to do and the amount of detail they put into the game, it is arguably the best 7th gen console game that I'm putting together with Mario Galaxy 2 ATM on my personal scale. Naughty Dog did a very good job, unfortunately, best looking has a lot to do with personal taste, so I can only judge by the actual game overall. :P

I was refering to what the media would rain awards over. Although theres a chance we might not see that this year due to the next generation starting albeit late in the year.

In 08 MGS4 won the most
In 09 UC2
In 10 GoW3
In 11 UC3
In 12 Journey
In 13 ?? (Possibly TLOU/GoWA or PS4/X1 title depending on if the media gets their hands on it in time to praise a universal game)

We'll see. After TLOU: Im not going to judge a game based off how it looks until I get it. What we saw at E3 didnt look TOO stunning to me, but so was the case for TLOU too and that positively surprised me. So maybe you're right. But I found Heavy Rain rather bland mostly and GoW3 kinda beat it so I dunno if Cage & his team has got a better grasp than ND & SSM when it comes down to it...

Not even close.

But fantastic game.

No. Main Character models yes, but the environments and enemies are not nearly as great. God of War Asecnesion is the best looking console game. After that probably Far Cry 3, Crysis 3, and Tomb Raider is all up there.
