Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

The OP seems to think we are going to head all digital anyway. ANd if that happens then MS deserves no credit cause someone had already done it before. How was it halfassed? If anything what MS is doing right now is halfassed, either make an all digital machine or just stick to how consoles have been functioning for years. |
Xbox One is a digital machine...All digital. The disk drive is there for bluray movies and due to internet still being limited and internet bandwidth being capped in some countries. This game disk for Xbox One is not the game but a game distribution device.
What Microsoft is doing here isn't anything new...its just new for home consoles. A similar DRM management Microsoft have already implemented with Windows phone, Windows 8, Office 365...etc.

Sony may very well do that if it proves popular, but being the 2nd console to do that is a bad position to be in, because the other console will have a head start with consumers in that offering. Therefore more potential customers will associate the service more with the console that originated it.

You can already share all digital purchases on the PS3, and have been able to do this since it launched. At first it was on up to 5 consoles, now you can share with 5 consoles, but only 2 can use it at a time.
I would give up gaming for the rest of my life.
I was going to buy PS4 even when I believed all the Xbox rumors to be false. They have always had much more first party content, higher quality first party content, and more varied first party content and Plus is infinitely more awesome than Live. Sorry but Sony won me over this gen with awesome policies not through MS screwing up. I'm just glad more people will come to the light and get to enjoy these awesome games now.
didn't read you posr so I'll just answer the question given in the title
I'll be eating a huge slice of humble pie with a large order of crow...
digital gaming has broken the barrier that physical media based gaming always had. Its more convenient, faster, more advantageous and increasingly more reliable. |
Sorry but these statements are simply not true.
It took me 5 hours to download a map pack for Battlefield 3. How is that more convenient or faster than me going to the shop 5 minutes away and buying a disc?

Nothing, people vote with their money and there will be nothing I could do. Sadly some people are willing to give up their basic rights for a form of enhancement.
The only thing I can do is not purchase it and stick with a machine that doesn't support these policies.
