What was the battery compartment like?

It uses AA batteries? Fuhhck...

Sometimes I feel like the only one that is really happy about this.  I have nice set of rechargeable AA batters (they go in everything, cordless mouse, remote, safety LED lights, Wiimotes, etc.) so I always have a few recharged and they are easy to replace.

Controlling running low?  Easy, swap them out, and put in a fresh pair.  Old pair goes into charger.  Continue gaming.

No funky USB cords to connect, to mess, easy peezy.

I actually really like that they did that.

Ok, I'm heading to the VGChartz dinner! I will answer the rest of the questions, and new ones when I get back.

Cheers!

Does the new controller spy on you?

How much does it weigh?

More on the rumble: will it make the military shooters feel better?

How's the home button?

It felt like it weighed a little bit less than the current 360 controller.  But, like I said, I don't know if it had batteries in it, of it was powered by the cable. It felt very comfortable and familiar.

More Rumble? - Yes, I definitely think it will make Military Shooters feel better.  I think it will be a nice improvement in the immersive feel of games.  It should make you feel more 'plugged in.' I think it will have a dramatic effect in improving the game.  It makes the game feel more ‘personal.’

I think it will also be used in other games.  I can how, if I was programming for it, how it would work in say Limbo – you could get a feel when you get shocked by electricity, or a different feeling when you get in water.  Finger tips are really sensitive – it can give a game a ‘bite.’

The Home or Guide button (the one that looks like the Xbox Logo) is further up.  It has a white LED in it.  If you put your finger in from of where the current empty space in on the X360 controller, it is almost that far up.  The bottom of the new guide button would be right on the top edge of the current one.  On the sides around the button is shiny black.

Sounds really good. How does it compare to the 360 controller. Does it have the same basic feel? Also is it true that you can make the controller wired simply by plugging a micro USB cable in it?

It very much feels like the same controller, except for the rumble feed back on the triggers.  That is very different in feel.

I believe yes, you can plug a Micro USB in the front, right under the new Guide Button.  The one I used was plugged in that way.  You can see it in this picture.

you don't have much problems with the 360 d-pad?

I'd rather wait for the next pad review thread(but i hope the batteries are placed where they better balance the pad )

The batteries go right in the middle of the controller - almost underneath where the current guide button is on the 360 controller.  As I said, I don't know if there were batteries in the one I tried, as it was wired.

But there is no 'box underneath' like the current 360 controller.

Hi Zappy, many many thanks for your information regarding the controller! Looks perfect and seems to even improve the 360-controller, nice! Have fun further on and enjoy!

Sure - it can transform in a worm, slips in your ass and tries to find out what you've eaten.

This is what I was most skeptical about.  How can you make a diagonal?  But in reality, it was nice, and felt 'cleaner' than the current disk.  A few times I have pushed the wrong way, the way it sort of moves/drifts.  But the new one, is more of an easy push button that is convex, and curved.

It felt very smooth.  And a little more decisive, like you wouldn’t push it the wrong way by accident as often.

Is there more grip on the analog sticks compared to the 360? Like the PS3 has the rough feel to the entire stick to give more grip while the 360 one is smooth is this changed?

How rough is the side of the top of the stick, is their more grip then the middle of the stick?

Did you notice if the sticks have more movement space, like further space from the middle of the stick to the hard plastic?

Do the sticks rest higher or lower then the 360, or no noticable difference?

Is their an option to disable the old rumble while keeping the new one active?
