I don't feel the same. $ony and M$ doesn't represent gaming, to them gaming is something they use to push their agenda in other media. Nintendo and Sega on the other hand represent gaming to the core, video games is the only thing they push. The death of Sega was one the darkest day in gaming and if Nintendo go down the same way it's the biggest blow in Video Games history. If Sony goes down there will be other electronic giants like Apple, Samsung or Google could fill in the void.

I have no attachment to M$ or $ony. My love will always goes to Nintendo, Sega, Neo Geo and Atari because they represent gaming during the golden age and silver age of gaming.

What are you on about? Sony is the only company who's always catered to gamers.

Speak for yourself. Nintendo always catered to me, it's 3rd party devs that dropped the gun on the Wii...

Sony is awesome and they have more money than microsoft in assets either way they will make lots of money in terms of profit! cause they do make roughly $72billion a year!

If you want to compare Revenue Microsoft brings in roughly $73 Billion per year.

However, that's revenue, that's not taking into account the deductions from the likes of Taxes, Dollar fluctuations, employee costs etc'.
Generally though, software is far more profitable than the hardware business.

Microsoft has about $52 Billion sitting in the bank, Sony has what? About 10 billion?

Either way, I do hope Sony makes allot of money, but I don't want them to be in a position where they are dominating, competition is a great thing, Having Microsoft and Sony neck-and-neck in the console arena in terms of sales can only be a good thing.
Otherwise a company gets complacant and lazy, doesn't innovate or invest and goes propriety-with-everything to lock competitors out and consumers in.

I hope Atari makes a lot of money....wait...

Fair enough. I'm sure not everyone was bothered by the Wii's abyssmal 2011's and 2012's line-ups. Just like not everyone was bothered by the Wii, which catered mostly to non-gamers.

I think there is fear going into next gen that PS4 may dominate... Just look at all the boards from here to GT to GAF man. Xbox doens't look good right now due to all its rumors and bad rep, and WiiU hasn't sold. This really maybe the come back kid for Sony if they don't do stupid shit like no used game and required online they will take next gen easily worldwide.

I expect them to dominate Japan and EU if price is right
With no need for internet they will dominate the "others" where people have limted ISP bandwith
That leaves battle between X1 and PS4 in the States, both launching at the same time, both same price, they will go neck to neck, if they dominate like they did in Ps2 era and the fans rejoiced, PS4 may come back.

I have got to disagree with that, in terms of Console gaming, the amount of exclusive contents and new IP sony is pushing far exceed what Nintendo has done. Nintendo's agenda was pushing Wii Shovelware with occassional Mario and Zelda IP. If Nintendo doesn't have their handheld, they would be pushing the same game for the past 20 years with minimal innovation.

Making same game over and over again, does not represent gaming. At least we saw several new IPs from Sony this generation.

1. Motorstorm (off road arcada racing)

2. Uncharted series

3. Infamous series

4. Quantic Dream's new IPs.

5. The Last of Us

6. Resistance

7. LittleBigPlanet

8. ModNation Racer

9. Various smaller games from Japan Studio i.e. Tokyo Jungle, Trash Panic, White Knight Chronicles

I am sure u can name a few more, but pushing new IPs, new experience, that's what is going to represent gaming, not rehash of the same old shit

Nintendo has as well

Xenoblade chronicles

Wonderful 101

Harmoknight

Fluidity

Pandoras Tower

The Last Story

Just because they arent crazy popular doesnt mean they dont make new IP's. Just research it a little

Quantic Dreams next game  whatever it is, isn't first party.  Neither is Wonderful 101, Fluidity, and The Last Story.  They really don't count as Sony or Nintendo.  Exclusives, yeah, but not as the company.  Although Sony completely funds all of Quantic Dreams games, so second party.

You also forgot Demon's Souls when listing exclusives that were co developed by Sony Japan, this one by Sony Japan and From Software.

Nintendo owns the trademark for Wonderful 101. That means they own the IP

Nintendo either published or co-published those games so i think they do count. Wonderful 101 is a Ninntendo IP, its just being developed by Platinum Games, the same way Retro Studios makes Metroid games.

I wasnt argueing about 1st, 2nd or 3rd party, only that they are Nintendo IP's and on the cover of my disk of The Last Story it says its a trademark of Xseed and Nintendo so there you go

The same should hold true for The Last Story and Fluidity/Hydroventure. Second party IPs do not exist, it's either first party or third party.

Second party is merely a term used to describe an independent studio (third party) that develops for a console manufacturer (first party). In most cases of such partnerships the IP in question is owned by the console manufacturer.

Yeah I think you are right. On that site "The Last Story" trademark is also own by Nintendo. Can't find anything about Fluidity, but the game is probably also own by Nintendo. So yeah I guess Nintendo just outsourced all 3 games to other developers.

You obviously don't know that much about Nintendo.
