Forums - Website Topics - Will VGC Software numbers become obsolete soon

With a more digital focused generation comes towards us including the new used game sales implied by Microsoft and likely Sony as well (With Developer/publishers at least)  will VGC software numbers become more obsolete than ever before?  This is the main draw to the site so this is a huge problem going forward if it is the case.

I already said this several times in many posts - the creators of this site must have a plan for this, otherwise it will only track hardware-sales in future.

Probably. Used games and digital sales will keep increasing. I still think though that some of their software estimates are pretty good.

Hard-copy-only tracking will soon be woefully inadequate. Hell, it could be argued it already is.
Digital tracking is a must.

They aren't already?

But regardless, people are happy if the numbers reflect their own personal agenda; something unlikely to change anytime soon.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

There are models that could be used to estimate digital download sales.

They aren't perfect... and nobody ever seems to release digital download sales so I assume that's why Ioi hasn't used them yet.

Mr. Stickball does a pretty good job with that stuff as I recall though.
