Upcoming action game collection coming to Nintendo's latest console in Japan this summer; no word on Western release.

Today during a Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo announced (viaPolygon) that the Yakuza 1 & 2 HD bundle is coming to Wii U in Japan on August 8. As its name suggests, the collection packs in the first two installments in the PlayStation 2-era action-crime series.

No mention was made of a release for the Yakuza 1 & 2 HD bundle in North America or Europe.

Polygon reports that a trailer for the bundle was shown, displaying upscaled graphics and Wii U-exclusive features. Players can use the GamePad to navigate the game's streets and monitor their characters.

Do you think the WiiU will also get 3&4?

I hope it also comes to the US. I would definitely purchase this for Wii U.

All depends on the sales of this bundle probably. If I had to guess, probably not. Most of the interested buyers probably already played 1&2 during the PS2 days, and already played 3&4 on the PS3.

For 3&4 to sell on the WiiU

It would have to have enough enhancements to make it worth buying at full price, as opposed to a probably very high discount for the PS3 versions.

The console itself would have to attract people who didn't buy a PS3, bought a WiiU, is in the male 20+ crowd, and is interested in the mature themes Yakuza dabbles in. I think that most of this demographic already bought a PS3.

Again, it's all just a matter of demographics. The Wii U demographic doesn't fit with the portfolios of games like Yakuza, Battlefield, etc. And only Nintendo can assume responsibility. It's their marketing strategy.

True.  I know nintendo is popular in Japan so it makes sense that they are pushing for Yakuza.  It would be a very good job by Nintendo if they could pickup the next Yakuza in the series as well for the WiiU.
