Let me start by saying that I loved the Uncharted series and plan to buy TLoU. However, to say that Uncharted 2 "was every gamers dream" is a bit sweeping. Believe it or not, some people don't like it.

That being said, I think Uncharted 2 set the bar as to what we expect in term of polish on big budget games. That might not actually be a GOOD thing for everybody in the industry since many smaller studios can't afford it.

Anyways, if TLoU is not out yet hard to say. But people here seem to know about some early reviews that suggest it goes back to the SURVIVAL roots of the horror genre. Something Resident Evil helped to pioneer, but has lately abandoned. For the record, if you like what is considered survival, you might want to try Zombie U. Surprisingly challenging with little ammo, etc.

I'd have to play the game first to know if it's gonna cause a revolution. I'm not sure what the developer has in mind when it comes to changing the way stories are told in video games but if he manages to top UC2 and Bioshock Infinite, I'm all for it.

Signature goes here!

It might influence zombie / survival games but thats about it.

If you break TLOU down, it really is just I Am Alive, with Uncharted inspired characters and enemies inspired by The Descent. It looks great and all, but nothing original. The fungus themed infection design is very interesting though.

but wouldnt that be changing the indusrty? if it can populerize the survival horror genre wouldnt it have made an effect on the industry? and thus changed it?

Still haven't answered my question,

it was great and set the bar but...what games has Uc2 really influenced?

sigh, i named two in the OP and i said this isnt about UC2, but here are some examples. Tomb Raider, Resident evil 6, splinter cell black list, Assassin's creed, remember me.

ohh and dead or alive 5 as well

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2012/11/11/dead-or-alive-5-influenced-by-uncharted-39-s-falling-mechanics.aspx

crystal dynamics said it influenced not just TR, but "everyones games" which is something i been saying for a long while now that it didnt just change the way games are played, but also the way they are made

Like I said, Uncharted 2 upped the level of polish and immersion that people expect in a big budget game.  But not every game (like movies) can be a summer blockbuster.  That's probably what they are referring to.  Uncharted 2 was very well put together, especially when compared to UC1

It was also probably my favorite in the series, although the boat sink scene was something in UC3.

Uncharted rediscovered what tomb raider lost!... and I guess The last of Us will rediscover what resident evil was all about.. I don't know if Uncharted influenced any games, but i m pretty sure Naughty Dog changed the way games are made and how they can be cinematic.

Pftt come on b-king, you are thinking to small. Industry you say, more like the world as we know it. Nothing will ever be the same again once this game releases xD

Yes

Uncharted 2 was a stepping stone for the whole industry and showed how much the PS3 can do if you stop crying around.

The Last of Us will be a stepping stone for NextGen games
AI and all that stuff is unique and the best quality ever achieved in gaming.
Hopefully others want to achieve the same cause The Last of Us will have a huge impact.

I hope not. I prefer games over interactive movies no longer then 7/8 hours.

I don't think you even try to be somewhat fair anymore. You came to the site as a guy with chill avatar and bit of humour. Now you are just negative towards everything non-nintendo.

Atleast know what you are trolling from now on. The Last of Us lets players set the pace of their survival experience. http://www.polygon.com/2013/5/17/4339320/the-last-of-us-lets-players-set-the-pace-of-their-survival-experience

OT: I think we are getting way hyped on this and i say that after my hype meter blew up from the intensity. This game is Naughty Dog's take on survival horror and refinement of many genres. It might set the bar high for others but it is not going to change the industry.

i know i was exaggerating when saying un2 was every gamers dream, but it sounded too good not to put it in
