Gosh Pokemon is really lagging behind, could the new Pokemon Masters on Smart phones have something to do with it? Maybe the casuals are happy just playing that?

Oh, that has NOTHING to do with it. Or at least, it's very, very minuscule compared to the bigger things Sword and Sword have going against it.

1) Much smaller install base for the Switch compared to the 3DS.

2) COMG decreasing and diminishing considerably in recent years.

3) The National Pokedex issue plus the lack of communication on the issue.

It could be something simple as fans holding off until on their pre-order until they get the Switch Lite after it comes out. But there are a number of reasons why Sword and Shield are lagging considerably behind prior generations of Pokemon.

It's sad to see comg so boring and lifeless. It used to be fun seeing the massive releases getting hundred of pre orders per week. Not even Pokemon is making it more interesting.

Am I reading this right? Astral Chain scored 38 points in sales but never actually charted (needed just 13 points)?

That's correct. Also Astral Chain had 52 points to end the week counting the collector's edition.

True.  So both had the opportunity to chart but didn't.   COMG is really losing its value as a pre-order to sales predictor.

Even if we assume it had 12 points, it sold 3 times higher than the old 1 point = 1,000 units sold ratio it has been known for. At 10 points = 4 times higher.

Yeah, not sure why that was the thing before I was active here as it makes no sense to me, but now we get far more value from the weekly points info as that takes into account pre-orders as well as first, second, and third day of sales. For instance, what I can tell from the charts is that Azur Lane had twice the weekly points of Astral Chain, and it's Azur Lane is very much an otaku-focused franchise it will very likely be overestimated to a large degree on COMG, so I would guesstimate Azur Lane and Astral Chain having quite similar first week sales on the Media Create/Famitsu charts.

Sales tracking have been boring for a while.

- Media create is gone

- NPD sales are not consistent

- The fact that we are at the end of PS4 and XB1 life, Only Switch making it interesting.

It could have been sitting at 12 points.

Man, Astral Chain must have just BARELY been off the chart, both versions! Maybe it'll do okay in Japan after all? Like, not super well, but not a bomb, either.

Astral Chain were #1 in both GEO and Tsutaya stores and they're considerably larger store chains than COMG.

COMG tells very little.

Well Pokemon GO is on it's way to create 3 billion Revenue; seems is gaining again in popularity.

Astral Chain is fairly expensive in Japan, which hurts preorders. The Switch Pokemon Titles have a similar issue altough not as bad.

Quite a few sales of Astral Chain will have been made via the Nintendo voucher programm, Those cost 9980yen while Astral Chain was listed as 8600 yen. So you almost get that game for free.

What the - ... Even the biggest game usually sells around 7600 yen usually. I admit that it explains part of why the voucher programm benefited this game a lot in Japan.

Eh, that's a pretty standard price. Azur Lane standard edition is 8400 yen MSRP for instance.
