Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony asked Bungie’s feedback on DualShock 4

Btw, am I the only one who thinks that having a touchpad on the controller is useless? I honestly have no idea how that could possibly add anything to the experience. Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but I don't want some gimmick like that driving up the price of controllers for no legitimate reason. I mean are we playing angry birds in the loading screens or something?

Well, I can't agree or disagree with you. Since I don't know what it will be used for, I can't really say it's useless...yet.

I made a statement in my opinion. Nowhere did I say that it was a fact, I didn't back it up with anything therefore it was simply my opinion and something I gathered from personal experience. I don't have to add "in my opinion" at the end of everything to inform everyone that it's not a fact, it's implied.

Seems like you're out for no real discussion then, which makes HappyD's statement just as accurate.

Making a statement about what genre a controller is only good for, and which genre you believe it was primarily designed for in your opinion are two entirely different things mate.

Anyways, I'll leave it at that mate.

No, you can't understand other peoples preferences.

No. You are not addressing my argument.

Tell me, why did they not put the d-pad where the analog stick is now when they made the very first controller?

Go ask Kaz, how the hell should I know.

Wii U's pro controller has the best analog stick placement in my opinion. When i hold a controller my thumbs are up and my fingers are curled back. I like symmetry and the pro controller has that. Also the stick are far apart enough that it long thumbs wont get in the way of eachother. But I am too used to ds3 and 4 seems like a perfect upgrade for next generation. I just hope that Sony separates the analog sticks a little more. Really doesn't mater though since I use the tips of my thumb.

The answer my friend is blowing in the wind. The answer is blowing in the wind.

Why the hell is everyone getting so sensitive? LOL I think it's safe to say that you like whatever you are used to at this point. I can use either controller quite frankly, I simply tried to add a REASON as to why Microsoft did what they did at the beginning of page 4.

best reply yet lol.  the simple answer would be people were already familiar with the d-pad.  when they added the analog they know they  needed one (nintendo) so they put in the spot they had

Which "DualShock 3 criticisms" actually?

Too Small, Analog Sticks too close together, Triggers..etc..etc.
DS4 is a completely different controller from the DS3. It's the first major revision to Dualshock. since the addiction of analog sticks.

Dont forget that the buttons tend to stick down on occasions

Not at all. That's more of an issue with dirty gamers than bad controller designs.

Nope, I keep my controllers clean and that shit still sticks down sometimes, it especially gets annoying during gameplay, especially with button sequence games
