Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Vgleaks: Polygon says Durango Always Online, No Internet Connection need for games

How is that any different from the 360?

My 360 is technically always online because it's always connected to the webz but I can still play games on it if it weren't online. To call the 720 "always online" specifically and not the 360 doesn't make sense in this regard. But then again this is all just a rumour and I'll just wait until MS come out and say what they really have planned.

The difference is that your 360 does not have a low power mode basically like your android or IOS device.  The 720 is rumored to be able to go to sleep but be still connected to the Internet.  In this mode various background processes can happen just like your tablet.  Kinect can wake the console up.  Various apps running can wake it up like Skype calls or messages can display during such low powered mode.

Another day another rumor about the Xbox. I see Sony fans talking about the next Xbox more than MS fans.

Is this just the polygon-rumor, reposted at vgleaks?

Well maybe this makes sense now. Maybe the always online statement is used to state that if pirating is seen online through specific attributes then there will be consequence. So you probably get to play any game offline but when you plan online, if some games make you, then Microsoft probably has this huge team of pirating moderators to catch you. I know, it sounds stupid but who knows and quite frankly... who cares? I'm gettin' me a PS4 with my Wii U. That's all I need! MWAHAHAH:D

It makes sense. Still not going to change opinions of the console we know little to nothing about on this page, that is for sure. It still has to be confirmed and honestly? I can't wait.

See sig!

If the NextBox doesn't demand always online to play games, then that Microsoft guy who was recently fired over his Twitter remarks was being even more of a dumbass with his statements than originally thought.

No, vgleaks is just standing by their own report (it was before Polygon).

So where did vgleaks mention extended achievements before Polygon, for example? They even mention the polygon-rumor.

Bingo. Low power mode that's still connected to the internet also means I can be at work, catch a sale and buy a game from my smart phone, tablet or PC. The game is then instantly downloaded so that when I get home, I just play the game rather than wait for it to be downloaded.

Oh dear...
