Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft finally makes a compelling Windows Phone ad, makes fun of Samsung and Apple rivalry

Yes, it was funny but Microsoft needs not worry about comedic acts. There's no guarantee that their Phones will last any longer, they need to be compelling. It's like Windows is going down with Windows Phones. I really don't wish for this AT ALL but there's too much evidence pointing to it. Stop trying to be funny Microsoft and be real. Or, at least do both. I wish only the best for Microsoft but they have to do better to do better if you know what I mean.

It IS a great commercial and very memorable. And with some, it will even cause them to be more aware of and curious about WP and particularly the Lumia 920 (and hopefully soon the 928).

I'd imagine that those offended by this are probably the hardcore fanboys parodied in the ad. :D

I found it depressing, if realistic, of how people experience life now. No one just watches an event unfold anymore. It's all record and post documentation of said event.

As someone who has been to a LOT of weddings, I can assure you that is not the case. The only time everyone whips out their phone in unison is during the cake cutting. Only a couple of people will take pictures during the ceremony, first dance, etc, especially when the bride & groom hire a photographer, which is the vast majority of the time.

It's more a problem with teenagers I think. And even then I don't see people recording that much over here. It seems like a more American thing or something, based on youtube videos I've seen

--> American

I wasn't offended. I own an LG smartphone. I just dont think it's good commercial wise. If you are trying to sell a product do you think it's a good idea to make fun of the 2 dominate markets without highlighting why your product is better? No. when Samsung did it to Apple they showed their phones features. When Apple did it to MS they showed their computers features. This commercial you just see two people holding phones that look like toys (though that might attract some buyers). When the most you show of the phone is bright ass colors when trying to obviously convince people to ditch their product (Don't fight, switch.) then the commercial did a poor job.

Paid actors or a documentry short on fanboys? You have opened my eyes sir.

The only problem I have this with commercial is that really they highlighted the benefits of their competitors more than they did their own product (in fact you don't know it is Windows phone commercial till the very end). Also showcased how popular both companies are.

Don't fight. Switch. Then fight.
Microsoft logic.

They've done those commercials already.  Back during the holiday season.  They were VERY specific.  This is a different approach.  And, to me, it's far more memorable.  To each their own, I guess ...

This is awesome! My Buddy is the one under the table. I freaked him out when I spoke to my phone and it looked stuff up. Hey says my tech scares him.

But he did install a Roku all by himself.

It will be interesting to see if, when and how people switch formats.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

Don't fight, switch? Worst slogan ever. Why would you switch from 2 brilliant platforms with hundreds of thousands of apps to one with very little. You can't even get Instagram on windows phone!

People will switch because people don't like to fight. Oh wait...

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:
