Tobacco cigarettes kills people and the people who smoke tobacco don't want to die. This is fact.

Todays kids don't waste their time breaking the law because they would rather be doing everything legally and just play video games more then anything else.

I think to many people on this thread don't understand today's kids & teenagers who literally have a very different childhood then we did.

These kids & teenagers are to focus on school & video games & comic book movies & TV shows & Anime & music. And they could not give a damn to take up drinking coffee and smoking tobacco and not that many of them care for drinking alcohol.

You are confusing are generation with their generation, but these are 2 completely different breeds of generations that doesn't have much in common.

These kids have Netflix & blog sites & so much more. And now of days they are more better inform and if its disgusting e first time then they will stop doing it and move on to something they will like because there is too many different games & shows & other things to experience.

This is at least fact in most of America, 100% guarantee.

And our generation is already 21 & up, so no harm in America and no foul.

I don't have a problem with this. How is it any different than 21 to drink, 18 to drive, 17 to be "legal", among many other age restrictions?

Smoking is a disgusting habit that kills you and inconveniences everyone around you. The harder they make it for people to get, the better.

I seriously chuckle every time I am behind someone in line at a store and they ask for one pack of name brand smokes and it's like $7.50. LOL. Or the sales that people have on packs of cigarettes. "hey only $6 a pack when you buy 5!". I worked at a grocery store when I was 16 and you could buy an entire carton for less than that. I hope these changes have lowered the number of people smoking.

If people want to make poor choices, we have to let them.  It's not up to us to decide what other people should or should not be doing.  I am honestly surprised there are so many people that are in favor of banning things.  It makes no sense to me.  Why do you care so much about someone you've never met?  All you're doing is voting to be taxed in order to ban things other people want. 

Prostitution? Police shouldn't waste their time (our money) on trying to impede that sort of thing.  Same with marijuana and underage drinking and smoking.  It's up to parents to be good parents.  You can't save everyone, and even if you wanted to, I'd rather you not do it on my dime.  People that support banning and controlling everything should pay for their own crusades, and leave the rest of us out of it.

The people are addicted. I feel the same about them as I do when I visit homeless shelters or see TV ads of starving kids. Do any of these affect me on a day to day basis? No. But that doesn't mean I can't feel sorry for them or want them to get help. This is a way to help.

Fight and die for your country at 17, but not be allowed a drink and smoke till 21?

Most people that get, addicted get addicted before 18 when they are already doing it illegally. So increasing it to 21  does not make sense because a much smaller amount get addicted after 18. I am more worried about obese people. The government needs start bigger propaganda towards eliminating the obesity rates more than smoking which is down substantially already in this country partially due to high levels of government propaganda.

LOL @ "annoying and scary". Nothing annoying or scary about wanting to help people out. And that "well it won't help anyone because they get them illegally anyway" is the same line gun nuts use against more gun laws and regulations. Any little thing we can do can help. Am I supposed to feel sorry that 19 year old Johhny Stinks has to wait a couple more years before he can go kill himself legally? Maybe he'll get tired of the hassle of having to get someone to buy smokes for him and will quit. Success.

No, it is your attitude of looking down on them so heavily and comparing them to homeless people. You obviously have little compassion, sympathy, or empathy  for people in general based on the statement.
