This shit is going on, while people are being prissy punks "wishing their thoughts and prayers to Boston"?!?!?!? Jesus. *_*

though reading through this thread I found to be a great importance to some doesn't mean for you to make light of a blatant terrorist attack...to those "prissy punks wishing their thoughts and prayers to Boston"..Yeah I'm sure the families of those who have died would thank you for your concern...-_-

They way he said it was pretty insensitive, but in a way, he does have a point.

People have already died and some are injured in Venezuela, and no one gives a damn. People die in Chicago and the whole world stops. It was horrible, yes, but people don't care about any other problems.

Or why isn't anyone giving their condolences to these families? http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/04/15/us-iraq-violence-idUSBRE93E07320130415

I really know nothing of the situation in Venezuela, but is it obvious that Capriles got the majority of votes?

Capriles asked for a recount and we have evidence of the government sabotaging the voting centers. It's in our right to ask for a recount, if Maduro really won, then why the government is doing all this? The burning of the boxes and the violence confirms there's a fraud here.

Then he should stop being a prissy prick caring about Venezuela because it's nothing compared to what's happening in Baghdad. That's ridiculous logic.

Every tragedy is horrible yet life is also relative. An extremely unexpected one in America gets a lot of news coverage in America.

Yeah, precisely that. I'm sorry for being insensitive of the Boston tragedy; it's a terrible thing to happen to innocent civilians on a beautiful day. But theres much worse things that deserve attention in the world. I just pity a population who "sends their prayers" to whomever TV news stations and social media suggests is popular to do. If you sincerely want to send your prayers, you'll host a candle light vigil for those who died. Posting on social media doesn't do a damn thing. Again, IMO, situations in the Middle East, Israel, Venezula, Egypt, Greece are far more devastating, and you don't see anyone "sending their prayers." Whatever is popular gets attention. I apologize if I offended anyone.

All of this, of course, is just my opinion.

I feel you're missing the point and not really understanding. People can only empathize for what they know and understand. Many people are still ignorant to the details of ongoings around the world. Even further, most can't relate to things or places they've never been or seen before. Every American has seen pictures or movies of Boston, it's a place that is identifiable for all. An tragedy there will be far more impactful than the far worse situations around the world. I don't the severity of the issue should cause such a cyncial response.

While I'm no fan of people using social media when trying to actually do anything, but with a lot of people, it's the only way they know how to use whatever voice they have. I would hope that people are not doing to gather attention, but to turn attention to what has happened. I can not criticize people for that.

Why did they not have international monitors present for the election? You know Chavez's goons are going to continue his tradition of rigging the outcome of elections, no matter how blatantly and egregious it becomes to the rest of the world.

Oh we had, and they literally just came out and said that they also want a manual recount, like i said it's a constitutional right and more sooner than later the lies are going to fade -- a member of the national guard, who were ''controlling'' attacking a peaceful protest (following government's orders), said ''i'm tired of this lie'' and took of his uniform and chained himself to the doors of the council along with the students who were protesting... we are going to defeat the lies and liars.

The reason why I seem so cynical is due to that statement again, of "sending prayers" is such a lazy, uncaring, "let's show people I care publicly" sort of statement. It's more of a way of reacting immediately to the tragedy and simply moving on and forgetting about it. Maybe I see it darkly, but I don't believe that people actually care unless they're directly involved.

Also, this.
