Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Miyamoto: give the Wii U time.

The true potential for Wii U is SOFTWARE that can show the features of the Wii U.
Nintendo Land did, and... well... Pikmin 3 looks cool in HD, right?

It needs Wii Sports U, real new features for Wii Fit U, Wii Party U doing something that Wii cannot.

Talking does nothing.

A Party game where the guy who has the tablet is the boss and the guy who defeats him take it after would be cool.

Nintendo acts like MS and Sony can't release a peripheral in the future to compete......

But what they don't acknowledge is that the more time goes by, the more dated the WiiU will look by comparison. This aint like the Wii, where casuals didn;t care about graphics......WiiU is for core gamers, and in a couple years it will allready look ancient compared to PS4/Xbox

You know that core gamers aren't only COD players right ? Indie gaming is on the scene right now, and if they can get devs ...

Well it will be difficult because of Nintendo policy but there will always be a possibility.

Zelda, pokemon and Mario never needed ultra high end graphics, but they have potential to bring core gamers.

Zelda has never been for pussies, Super Mario world had tons of gameplay hours and pokemon had t-rpg titles and roguelikes.

Just going by Gamecube and WiiU numbers as of now, both core-first consoles and each doing not so hot right now.

Gamecube days are already finished, wii U is only on her (yeah, all game consoles are female) first year right now. Numbers don't mean anything yet.

Well with gamecube Nintendo showed they can't stand toe to toe with the other guys. WiiU is repeating the same pattern (so  far). Lets see if they can pull a "3DS" again with WiiU

Gamecube showed no such thing. It showed they can't when they make stupid decisions regardng their core franchises, a mistake they may not repeat with Wii U.

What stupid mistakes ? Wind waker was freaking awesome.

But its graphics and sailing rubbed a lot of gamers the wrong way, just like Mario Sunshine being about cleaning up grafitti with a watergun on a tropical resort, Double Dash having two characters per kart, and Starfox Adventures being a Zelda clone. In terms of appealing to mainstream gamers, Nintendo seriously dropped the ball with the Gamecube, hence its low sales.

But I do not want to own a fancy remote control for my Tv that will become obsolete in a year or so when everyone just uses their computer to watch television.
I am surprised they are still staying so secretive about any other games. They know it is struggling. Are there any other games coming? You begin to wonder after a while.

well i think they are waiting until E3 and after to show everything they got, i believe they have a lot coming but at the end of the year and (spetember and after) and for early next year, but now we have a lot of news coming from botht he PS4 and xbox 720 so it seems like they are just waiting for the news of these things to be announced so they wont be over shadowed by any new announcment from both MS and sony

Good god the investor meeting can't come soon enough. We need something solid and we'll get it there.

is there any confirmation that there will be games announced on the investor's meeting? and when will the meeting happen?

no, but the q1 results can't be pretty, and game release dates will be a good way to placate wary investors.

hopefully they do give games some release dates. we saw what lego did for the WIiU and pikmen and W101 will hopefully do the same. i just hope they dont announce a price cut, because if they do so then it will mean they dont have any solutions in the near future, atleast thats my opinion

Who really cares about the "someone is using TV" crap?

I have my own TV I don't need this gimmick... I just want GAMES

Nintendo making idle threats is like.... whatever lol.

Strategically what else are they supposed to do though? What could nintendo possibly do to offset the PS4/720 reveal in the next 30 days. It looks like Sony is set to unveil their PS4 sometime in april with microsoft finally getting their act together and possibly unveiling in may.

It's a losing battle that nintendo is fighting...

I find it hard to believe they'd be stupid enough to cut the price of a system that's already selling at a loss.

Oh, who I am I kidding, this is 2011-present Nintendo...

Wii U is for everyone.  I like the second screen because I can watch netflix in my bed (I have the Wii U in the living room), play some games off screen while lounging in my bed (it is where I get most of my high scores in Zen 2 since I prefer off screen play for the game over TV), web browse (it has a good web browser and since Wii U boots faster than my PC I have been using it more and more for web browsing), web browse / game while taking a shit and a few other things.  So to state that is just for the elite hardcore crowd is a false statement.  Nintendo markets to everyone.

you mean it can do the same thing just about every smart phone and tablet out there, yes it does.
