Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why did Mass Effect 3 come out on WiiU when ME4 will never come out on the platform?

But wait, there's more! Battlefield 4 is published by EA, and EA owns BioWare. And BioWare's big upcoming RPGs, as studio general manager Aaryn Flynn confirmed last night, will run on the Frostbite 3 engine. Which, again, doesn't support Wii U.

Why would they release ME3 on WiiU when ME4 will never come out on WiiU because Frostbite 3 will not be on the platform? Its illogical.

Maybe they thought if it sold well enough that they would put it on Wii U. Since that obviously didn't happen they probably won't be bringing Mass Effect to the Wii U again.

I think launching the Mass Effect trilogy on PS360 and only bringing ME3 to Wii U was far more illogical.

Just for clarity, it is distinctly not ME4, it is not a continuation of Commander Shepherd's story

I think they were just gauging interest in these types of games on the Wii U, since a port was easy, but porting their next gen games might be more challenging

Don't worry, it will likely release for WiiU's sucessor in 2017. For $90.

One rumor going around is that Nintendo was giving incentives for launch window support, which would explain all the ports of old games like ME3, Arkham City, Deus Ex, etc. Easy money.

ME4 will come to the Wii U 2. jk

There is no way that EA could have expected ME3 priced at $60 to sell well, when they released ME Trilogy for the same price, around the same time. They just did it so that they could have an excuse not to port games to the Wii U.

Good point.

Don't underestimate the possibility that EA will make a completely different engine just for ME4 that assures a WiiU release and and at the same time not using Frost3 as not to contradict the statement regarding it and WiiU. Don't hate on the WiiU U guys.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:
