What I'm saying is people are not thinking. Not that i'm right on my judgement.

1.  People saw always on and jumped to a conclusion which could be a number of different things.  Still the way it was worded sounds to be Sleep Mode.

2.  People saw installs and jumped to a conclusion.  Now this oculd potentiolly block used game sales but let's not forget installs on PS3.  It could be a number of different things so once again it is a conclusion and until you hear MSFT say something about it, all it is is journalist getting hits on websites.

Speaking of blocking used games, do you think publishers and develpoers wont choose to block them on PS4?  If they truly have a choice, then A LOT of games will be blocking used games.  Specially EA and Ubisoft.

3.  Used game sells blocking used games could actually lead to success for MSFT, Sony, Publishers, and developers.  Dont be surprised to either see exclusive deals or both MSFT and Sony blocking most used games.  People saying it is dooming them isnt thinking that one all the way through. 


4.  The only thing that could really hurt MSFT is always online.  That is because a lot of people dont have internet to do that.  It is doubtful that they are doing always online.  


Hoevever people need to start thinking about the whole picture and stop buying into every rumor that they see.  If you know how journalism works then you should know 1 rumor turns into 100's because every journalist will go and write about the same story and twist words around.    

Your points are valid but i think its the way you are putting them across thats rubbing people up the wrong way. These are rumours and people will draw their own conclusions, just as you have.

I dont mind that Im rubbing people the wrong way.  People are not thinking things through as usual and just jump to conclusions regardless of the overall picture.

Anyways i'm not saying I'm right or wrong because really i dont know just like everyone else.  What I do know is that used games being blocked most certainly does not spell doom when in fact it is the opposite.

First off, I know you copied this from elsewhere, but you don't need the "lmao at the comments in this thread" part. You could have, and should have, edited that away. You also complain about rumor and conjecture, then launch into absolute speculation with the EA giving Microsoft timed exclusives in exchange for blocking used games thing.

As for the "always on, always connected" line, that's nothing. As others have said, it's likely just "has sleep mode, can auto-update from sleep mode." It's just going to be faster from "on" to gaming and will probably be like PS+ where you can schedule everything to DL/update when you're asleep. It will be interesting to see what is tied to a subscription, though.

While it's no more than speculation, the idea that the 720's "all games play from the HDD" philosophy could be linked to DRM is one that bears considering. It's sounds exactly like the PC model, after all, which typically eliminates used game sales.

It also sounds kind of annoying, to be honest. Hopefully they aren't heavy-handed with it. I know that I'm someone who will try a new game, take it out after 10 minutes, and put something else back in, just because I'm not in the mood for that new game at the time. I would hope that you can do that instantly and without problem, otherwise it would be very inconvenient. It better be at least a 1TB HDD, as well, or it's going to get frustrating fast. My 320 PS3 stays crammed full.

He's making that post based on the same rumors everyone else is seeing. The ones that are taking the very simple claim of "Always On" and stretching it to mean many things that are just wrong.

Based on the latest SDK leak, all the actual info about "Always On" is to help keep games and the console updated and to give you instant access to your content. It never once even implied that you HAD to leave it always online, or that if it was not online that the console would not work. All that extra fluff was added by the tons of rumor spreading journalists.

Unless Nextbox allows you to play any game as long as there's a disc of some description in your disc drive then this point is completely off point. You will always need to change discs to change games, to prove that you haven't sold on your disc but continue to play the game from your HDD (a la the original [modded] Xbox).

If always connected is what you suggest, then it's merely catching up with PS3 and nothing to get trerribly excited about. PSN+ members have this for updates as long as their internet connection is turned on and the PS3 is in sleep mode. The context of the nextgen discussion about internet connection is whether or not a live connection to the internet is required for a game to play. I think Edge are suggesting this for Nextbox, given the context of the broader discussion. What I don't believe is that MS would be that stupid. I do think wake up to update is a no-brainer so of course that will be a Nextbox feature. Always online for gameplay, no.

DAMN, you know Eurogamer/Edge/vgleaks have been dead on with PS4 rumors, they'll most likely be true about the xbox3.

And my PS3 turns itself on automatically to download patches and updates at 4 in the morning. Either of these can be turned off by my choosing, so I'm sure the Next Box would have it as a mandatory feature.

The rest of the subjects of your post were either addressed by someone else, or completely ignored as they should have been.

Let's just tak ea look at EA and Ubisoft's DRM strategy and tell me that they dont want to block used games?  Then you have sony which are going to allow them to make the choice to block used games.  Do you really think developers and publishers are going to be nice and not block them?  They have already proved that they want to block them with some very sketchy strategies
