I know this has been said for 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012  (okay...maybe not 2012), but it's finally true this time. It's only March and we know The Last of Us is coming, BEYOND is coming, and God of War: Ascension is coming.

With The Last of Us, we have a new IP from arguably Sony's best first party developer. With God of War: Ascension, we have a new installment from arguably Sony's best first party developer with series-new features like time travel and online multiplayer. And we have a game from the creators of Heavy Rain - a game that many hold as the greatest story told in the history of storytelling. Take Rolstoppable for example; he is perhaps the most famous Nintendo fanboy on this site, and has publically admitted that he dislikes the modern Sony. So when Rol said that Heavy Rain had "an excellent story" (paraphrased), you know the game is something special. 

Needless to say, we can expect that these will be three amazing games! And this is just the games we know so far. We know Sony's going to bring the megatons at E3 like they always do. In fact, they've already made a public statement saying we should expect more "highly significant" PS3 games to be announced. Why would Sony lie? And we already know Gran Turismo 6 is coming this year. I think it's fair to make the argument that this year may be the best ever for the PS3.

Keep in mind these are just some of the more bigger games coming. I decided to keep the limit the list to only a few, because if I would have listed every game, some people's computers may have stopped due to the intensity.

So far, my favorite year has been 2009. Ratchet & Clank: ACiT, and Demon's Souls are some of my favorite games this gen, with Uncharted 2 being slightly below those two. Killzone 2 and inFAMOUS were good too. But with 2013, that may change.

Depends if certain games (Versus XIII and TLG) get a release date for this year. If so, then yes, 2013 is easily the best.

its pretty hard to beat 2011. littlebigplanet 2, killzone 3, infamous 2, uncharted 3 and resistance 3. along with ratchet and clank and motorstrom

this year we have God of war, the last of us, sly cooper, beyond two souls, puppeteer and rain. so honestly it looks like 2011 is better

When it comes to new IPs, and not new games in established franchises, you gotta admit, this year looks brighter for the Ps3 =P

I agree that 2011 had the best quantity. But it's no match for 20009 in terms of quality imo. A comparison of 2009 would go something like this for me:

Demon's Souls ('09) > A Crack in Time  ('09) > Uncharted 3 ('11) = Uncharted 2  ('09)  > Killzone 2  ('09) > LittleBigPlanet 2  ('11)> inFamous 2  ('11) > inFamous 1  ('09) > the rest of 2011

What do you think if GT6 is announced?

if we are talking new IP's then yes, but big games in general 2011 up until now wins

what do i think if GT6 is announced for ps3? i think sony would be idiots but seriously if GT6 is announced then TLoU would have to really be an outstanding game, alone with beyond. they need to blow us away. because lets be honest, 2011 and as you mentioned 2009 not only had a lot of games, but they were also pretty darn awesome.  

if 2013 wants to win, then TLoU, GoW, Beyond and GT6 need to be all VERY awesome to win. also puppeteer needs to be atleast very good

This year im gunna go broke between ps3 and vita Exclusives.
