How in the heck could ANYONE score Dead Space 3 low? It's amazing and hands down the best game in the franchise

At the end of the day, opinion are opinions.

Opinions can be bad though.

No opinions are bad, there's no such thing. You can disagree with them, but they aren't bad or wrong.

Especially since the reviewer completely backed up everything he said.

Don't come against what I learned in my philosophy class XD No seriously, opinions can be wrong if they're not backed by a correct argumentation. It is the very basic statement of ethics (philosophers like Kant wrote on it).

And it's not against the reviewer! It's just a basic statement. I agree with the review and Gordon so!

Well what do those unlockables modes do then? Classic and Arcade? If they actually answer all his gripes with the ammunition or easy difficulty then it's a poor review. If not then he's more than entitled to his opinion.

Why should I have to play the game multiple times to get the best experience? When I played through it the first time I already know the story, the levels and the scripted events, taking much of the game away. The gameplay may improve in these new modes, but the rest has already suffered.

In terms of game reviews (not here might I add) the worst i've come across is the 4/10 for Mafia 2 and 3/10 for Dead Island, absolutely terrible reviews. I generally don't listen as a first instance to reviews, I get a idea if i like the concept and go with that. Unfortunately its impossible to get a reviewer to be someone who always like a particular genre (though I do find some sites they always get a nintendo fan to play a Nintendo game and that results in slightly higher scores than perhaps would be given on another platform... for example would a nintendo land score well on an Xbox or PS3 console... not convinced).

Personally I loved DS1 and DS2... played the demo of this and wasn't that impressed. I found the gun creation very confusing from a UI point of view.. not intuitive for me at all... perhaps its better in the game.

On another note, you state about professional reviews. I don't know about the original reviewer but many sites don't employ game reviewers full time they are more ad-hoc do it in your spare time types. So there is a pressure to get a review out within a particular time to ensure they get paid. I think if you want a more in-depth review you should consider sites that have more time, but reviews of Mafia 2 and Dead Island prove that even they get it wrong more often than not.

People get very upset by reviews if a particular site score it down, me I look at multiple reviews if i am that bothered and get an idea if i will buy it day 1... most of the time I do, but with all the fuss over DS3 not really being as good as the previous games, I will get it later.

Whaaat? How can an opinion be bad? Its an opinion, its what someone thinks and feels about a topic or an issue. No one opinion is better than the other and no one opinion is good or bad.

For example, my opinion of this site is that there are too many fanboys and jackasses running around wild. Is it better than others? Nope. Is it good or bad? Neither, coz its just that, my opinion.

I'll try to explain my point (pretty philosophical, I learned that in college, pretty hard for me to explain since English isnt my native language). There are universal concepts suggested by philosophers which establish ethical argumentation and the duality between what is good or bad. An opinion CAN be bad if we call upon authority and the authority suggests so, per example. The argumentum ad potentiam or ad verecundiam consists in giving more credit to a statement according to its origin rather than its content. In that particular case, the opinion is that "The reviewer Gordon Bryant made a bad and unfair review to Dead Space 3". This is an opinion, but is it a good one? There is this long reasonal thinking and ethical pattern to confirm or infirm the statement, but that doesn't mean it is good or valid from the groundup. In the end, everything depends on the type or argumentation and the valid points raised following those very true philosophical statements.

An opinion is NOT something relative to the inner feelings or someone. It is a clear reasoning that comes from your mind, not from your heart. There is a slight difference between "I love Badgenome" and "Badgenome is a pretty witty user that somehow manages to top Rol's sarcasm abilities". The first is a taste, the second is a subjective value judgement. Do you understand my point?
