Forums - Gaming Discussion - Nintendo Needs A Management Shake-Up

Nintendo just came off one of the most successful video game generations of all time with the DS and Wii and you think they need a shake up? If you're a Nintendo fan, you must not be very loyal.

Nintendo will rebound in the next year to 2 years. They will be back on top of the console market as they already dominate the handheld market. Such little patience these days....

Imagine what they could have done with a management shakeup. It would've been brutal.

Nintendo needs localisation divisions for europe and the US. The few games that we get should be everywhere day and date. The thing I hate the most about Nintendo is that they seem to thoroughly plan release schedules in Japan (ignore the current Wii U situation) but everywhere else it's like whatever. It's done when it's done, or not, or whatever.

I believe they just had their wakeup call regarding their lackings in the west. They will shape up, trust me.

i agree, after the Wii and DS, nintendo have been very arrogant. they have seem serious issue's with the strategy they have and the audiences they are seeking. also its not the marketing division's fault its nintendo's bussiness strategy's fault that the WiiU adds suck. the marketing team had to deal with nintendo's unrealistic business strategy that they wanted the core, the casuals, the adult gamers and the kids all at the same time.

Fire Reggie & Aonuma.
Give Iwata another shot.

The years that Cammie was with Nintendo were their biggest ones, maybe in their history. Once Cammie left, sales also. maybe you don't like she, but to me as a marketer she did an awesome job.

And yes, I don't know what is Nintendo doing.

That is some serious revisionist history!  She came on board about two years after the giant casual wave with the DS had started, (joined in late 2007) and left a year after it had all completely crashed (left in 2010).

If Nintendo goes down I'm blaming the Cammie haters.

At the least, something should be done about Europe.

I don't agree with you.  With Sony and Microsoft abandoning Japan I'm thrilled that Nintendo is taking it over and is doing more and more to get great Japanese games localized.

What is this crap?

Agreed. Much like what my beloved Cubbies recently went through, Nintendo needs to start anew starting with a complete overhaul of the front office. Iwata and company have completely cut off the once massively popular Wii short and botched the release of the Wii U, not to mention the fact that Nintendo has lost money for the first time in its history. Time to bring in someone new and see if they can turn things around.

I know this is ironic of me to say when I have him as my avatar, but he should not be handling the business side of Nintendo, as he's proven he can no longer do it.

Ken Kutaragi was the father of the two most successful game consoles of all time.

Today he wouldn't be able to get a job as Sony's janitor.

This is a performance based business, it's not about being nice.

Also the sooner Nintendo gets out of patting themselves on the back for the Wii, the better. Yes, job well done, but WAKE UP it's not 2006 anymore. Times have changed even from then. One botched 3DS launch and the first loss in 100+ years as a company should've been enough of a wake up call, now a bad Wii U launch after having two years to prepare ... unacceptable.

Y'know I have to agree with this.

I love Iwata for Wii, the whole blue ocean strategy, Xenoblade, etc.  But this isn't a fanclub it's a business.  The 3DS launch was flubbed and an embarrassment that caused him and others to cut their salaries in half.   Now the WiiU is an even bigger launch failure.

Both caused a lot of needless market confusion.   People thought 3DS was just a regular DS now with 3D (similar to DSi upgrade).  People think WiiU is a Wii add-on.   Ridiculous, needless and immensely hurtful.   Marketing is in shambles.  Games are no where to be found - again.   WiiU should have been out 2010, or 2011 at the latest.  2012 was far too late and it's costing them big time.    Far too many management mistakes going on.

NoA needlessly starved NA of good Wii games (thank goodness for XSeed).     They need more development studios.  A lot more.  Especially now that they are doing HD.

And WTF was with the 'oh, we're just getting used to HD graphics' s--t at the investors meeting?  They had had SEVEN YEARS to prepare for HD gaming.  SEVEN.  It's no surprise.  They should have been preparing for it for many years, hire outside staff who've worked in HD, buy some (of the many going bankrupt) HD gaming studios.    Something.  Don't tell me you got caught with your pants down - again.

Unacceptable.
