Forums - Gaming Discussion - What should Sony do with its 8.25% stake in Square Enix?

I think it would be a good decision for Sony to buy a controlling interest in Square, but they would need to clean up its production for it to be valuable.

Selling at the moment would be stupid, but i don't think buying is all that good of an idea either. Most of their games seem to be needing the multiplat sales (especially the western developed ones). So making them exclusive would be a money drain...

Though their japanese Portfolio in Sony's hands could probably make japan Sonyland again...

I wasn't even aware sony held shares in square enix. Anyway I think they would be more likely to sell their share then buy more. They have bought a lot of studios which haven't been profitable and there is no telling how profitable square enix as a whole would be.

One more thing to complete my year = senran kagura localization =D

turn up to shareholder meetings and rip into the clueless execs at SE

back then trying to conquer Hollywood with Spirits Within and now trying to conquer mmorpgs with FF XIV

both attempts full of ego and arrogance

well, where is the arrogance in making a movie and an mmorpg?

btw FF 14 is not their first mmorpg.

Make a promotion:

Buy a building and get a slice of Square.

Sony can't afford it simple as that.

Leave it and hope that Square is able to continue to grow.

If Square's share fall further down, Sony should consider buying them. Trim down business and fire Wada. Bring SE back to glory.
