Square Enix needs to fire every director/producer that isn't Nomura and Ito. Only then can they be saved.

Don't fire Naoki Yoshida. He's turning FFXIV into a masterpiece with the reboot. Also, don't fire Yoshinori Kitase, but demote him from producer to event planner.

No Kitase has to go, he's part of the problem.  I'll say he is the problem cause Toriyama should have been fired for the mess that Final Fantasy has turned into and Kitase's probably keeping him employed.

When you put it that way, I totally agree with you. After all, Tanaka got scapegoated for FFXIV when he didn't even direct the game. He was only the producer. That's the exact same role Kitase had on the entire FFXIII trilogy and also Dirge of Cerberus: FFVII.

I'm telling you, I lost all respect for Kitase when he started talking out of his ass for Final Fantasy XIII.  I couldn't stomach the written interviews with him.  He still probably has his head up his ass which is why Lightning Returns is getting made: "People like Lightning and want more of her", no people don't, which is why no one asked for this sequel.  Bump some guy into Kitase's position, give Nojima Toriyama's position and all will be right with Square.

Never played VI, IX was great, and XII was meh. If this guy was the director or not means nothing to me based on the quality of his past titles. However, I would like for him to be the directory merely for the fact that all of his titles would then be divisible by three, which is kinda cool in a very uncool way.

Preposterous. I know Vaan sucks, but blame the japanese audience for forcing us to cope with him. Without that observer protagonist - and that's most of the issue here, not the character per se - the game would have been far better.

And if your problems aren't alongside these lines and you feel a compulsion to post something related to gambits I swear I'll ruthlessly hunt you in RL.

He was being too nice. I thought XII was crap.

Currently own:

To be fair, I also think FFXII was a bad FF game. FF is mainly about story and cutscenes and FFXII don't have much of that. However, when you view FFXII as an Open World RPG like Oblivion, Skyrim, Monster Hunter and Dark Souls? Damn! Square Enix totally hit the ball out of the park with the game. There's so much gameplay content and the world is so vast. Also, the fact it even has cutscenes makes it an exceptional Open World RPG. Other games in the genre like Oblivion, Skyrim, Monster Hunter and Dark Souls don't even have any.

Also, let's not forget that fantastic Shakespearean dialogue!

Yeah, I agree with your stance now. Kitase also has an even bigger ego than Toriyama. I really think the success of FFVII back on PS1 went to his head and now he thinks he can do no wrong with a FF game.

Also, regrettably, Nojima won't be able to take Toriyama's position as he left Square Enix back in 2003 to become a freelance. That's why Toriyama has so much power. Kitase is manager of that entire dev team and he has chosen Toriyama to be the director. Nobody else on the team can't say or do anything. It's the unfortunate reality. The only way Kitase is going is if the executives step in, but then he has directing FFVII as immunity from being kicked out of the company. Only way he'll get thrown out is if LR gets less than 50 on Metacritic and sells less than 500K worldwide.

Hell no! They need to keep him as he's the creator and director of the Kingdom Hearts series. The only thing they need to do regarding Nomura is make him work only on the Kingdom Hearts series. Let Akihiko Yoshida be the character designer of FF from now on.

That's not true.

Itou was the concept planner for Guardian Cross. A mobile Platform game.

Granted I doubt that's all he's doing.

He never worked hands-on with the actual development of the game:

In March 2012, Square Enix announced that Hiroyuki Ito had provided the concept of an upcoming iOS and Android game called Guardian Cross.[44][45] However, in June 2012, the producer of the game clarified in an interview with Famitsu that Hiroyuki Ito had only provided the original idea of the game and was not actually a member of the development team.

my bad. It's a fun game for what it is though.

Square Enix is bananas and is angering me, if FF Versus 13 is buns then it's time to view Monolith Soft as the new awesome jrpg developers.
