The Metroid franchise has produced some of the greatest games of all time. Known for it's intricate labyrinths, power ups, and exploration, Metroid is truly unique in the gaming industry.

So if you have never played, or don't like Metroid games, why?

Looking at the series sales wise, it's not that big of a seller, but the games are almost always met with incredibly high aclaim. So I want to see if it's from general disinterest in the series itself.

Surprisingly I've never played the Metroid Prime games. They look great and were received well critically, so I don't know why they never took off sales wise. I did play hunters on the DS and it was really fun!

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

I've played them, I just can't remember what they were all about.
It might be a good idea to try to play it again.

I really don't know why 2 and 3 didn't sell better. 1 was amazing, and sold very well, you would expect that to be a growing point for the series, but for some reason it didn't grow.

Also, Hunters is alright, but it really doesn't play at all like a Metroid game. I suggest you try Prime 1 or Super Metroid if you really want to get into the series.

I played Metroid Fusion, Zero Mission, Prime 3 and Hunters. All great games, i liked Fusion the most, followed closely by Prime 3. Still have to play the first and second Prime games, though. Also, Hunters multiplayer was just awesome, i'm hoping for a "Hunters 2" on the 3DS.

I have only played a bit of Super Metroid & Metroid Prime 3.

I didn't like either of them. I found them to be a bit boring and admittedly too difficult for my tastes. To be honest, I'm a bit of an oddball Nintendo fan. I never liked Metroid, don't care for Zelda, and am getting tired of Mario. If I end up buying a Wii U, I don't plan on buying a single Mario, Zelda, or Metroid game.

Pikmin, Animal Crossing, Star Fox, Yoshi, and Wii series > Mario, Zelda, and Metroid for me!

I'm not a fan of the Prime games. Super Metroid is pretty good though.

Aside of Other M, I like all Metroid games. The only one I haven't played is Zero Mission.

Rented Metroid Prime 2 and it was wicked. Didn't play others so i don't know the lore and story.

Edit: Oh yea also played Pinball one on DS. Was good fun.

I played Metroid 2 for GB years ago and it was one of the most boring games i have ever played, that was my first exposure to Samus. played Metroid Prime to see what all the fuss was about, and it was one of the most boring games i have ever played. It was like a really dull FPS. Played Hunters and it was alright, it was on the wrong damn system IMHO. Played Other M and i actually thought it was cool, never saw the hate for that one. wait NVM i got it.
