Nah it really doesn't come down to that at all. 

If this rumor is to be believed it comes down to the following:

PS4 GDDR5 - able to push larger amounts of data at once, but much slower cycle rate

360 DDR3 - able to push less data at once but do it more rapidly + having more memory to work with.

I really don't know how else I can illustrate this to people...GDDR5 doesn't necessarily mean faster performance. Infact for non GPU tasks its much worse. 

I think you mean XBox 720? And I'm pretty sure GDDR5 is FASTER than DDR3. Am I wrong?


Look up RAM frequency vs RAM timings to understand the difference.

GDDR5 and DDR3 are the same memory. One is tuned to fire more date at once but at a slower rate while other fires less data at one time but can fire faster.

Graphics like GDDR5 way better. Everythig else a computer needs to do works better with DDR3.

No, because particularly the ray tracing bit is complete bullshit. Other things in that blurb probably too.

Another little thing I expect on PS4.

SDD hard drives because install games and patches in HDD is terrible.

You expect to play 2 games at a time with 64 GB or less? I doubt they could give you a 120 GB SSD and keep the price south of $500. 

There may be SSD upgrade packs...

Arcade barebones model $399 + SSD upgrade pack $199 = potential Microsoft console bundel

SDD's cost WAAAAAAAY too much right now

 

MS AND Sony are supposedly going to have 100gb capable Blu ray so if PS4 just so happens to still have mandatory installs.. guess who else is going to have them aswell? ;)

 

Edit: i'm sure Sony will find a way around that this time around

this is confusing..

 

you basically just said that the 720's ddr3 is faster AND has more ammo than the PS4's GDDR5

 

I thought the GDDR5 was faster though..
