Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo to Consolidate Hardware Development

without a doubt, the next ninty sys will be a handheld device that can stream to tvs via miracast technology.

Seems like these are costs cutting measures, a longterm strategy by having a more unified division no? Iwata did this back in 2002 for the Gamecube era. He is doing it again

On a side not, stock is up by 1.5% :)

Wii U and 3DS had a baby?  3DS U!!! Plays like a gamepad when assigned to Wii U, or plays by itself just like 3DS?

I'm ready to fork over some cash now.

Best of both worlds, or Frankenstein's monster?

The Tingle Tuner IS the greatest thing ever. You can skip Dragon Roost Cavern with it.

Seems like a money saving effort for the most part. Probably a good idea in that sense. Attempting to merge markets into one console; not so smart at this point. Look to the Vita to see the result...
Casuals now game on tablets and phones and the core will want the same as before, home consoles with home console fare and multimedia capability and good 'ole PC's with hardware oomph.

The massive irony of this whole mess is that Nintendo helped create and expand a market segment they will no longer be able to properly compete in. At least with core fans, they have very long and very strong pedigree.

It`s interesting, to say the least. Let`s see what will result from this.

I LOVED TINGLE TUNER!! and i liked using my gameboy advance with the gameboy player, and of course sonic adventure with sonic advance (good times there)

I don't see how this is bad at all. Consolidating is a pretty great idea, if you ask me. Having them work together could turn up some pretty great things.

Can someone please explain to me everyone on here is absolutely convinced that the Wii U is selling horribly. It may not quite have been up to Nintendo's expectations so far, but nearly 2.5 million sold in two months is far from terrible. Ninty's goal was 5.5 mil by April, and while that seems unlikely now, it's not even unattainable. It seems like everyone on here is acting like the WiiU's the biggest bomb since the Virtual Boy, but as far as I can tell, this is far from the truth.

I'm not a fanboy, and if someone can come up with a logical reason why the WiiU's sales are viewed so negatively I'll certainly listen.
