Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is it really the wiiU who performed poorly? Or are we just starting to see the beginning of the end of dedicated gaming consoles?

If people think the Wii U is doing bad, I have a feeling they're going to be VERY surprised when the other consoles release, especially the PS4..

Given we have no confirmed info about the systems still I believe this is more wishful thinking on your part than anything else. We can make some proper predictions once we learn more about them

What's with the sky is falling mentality that so many people have? The Wii U has been out for 2 months! Nintendo hasn't even announced a killer app yet! All is good in the Mushroom Kingdom which in turn means everything is good for MS and Sony as well.

If Mario U isn't considered a killer app we're in serious trouble.

It's too early to tell, but Wii U+PS4+720+others will sell less than Wii+PS3+360.

I'm not actually sure what you are trying to say in the title...

I meant can the poor performances of the wiiu be explained by the fact that people aren't so much interested in next gen dedicated gaming consoles.

not sure if serious, but the wii u is hardly nextgen when it come to tech, and if you think the next 360 and ps3 are not gonna do amazing sales think again, a few avertisements on xbox live and psn and gamers  are gonna go crazy, gamers are spending more time playing games then ever, thus making them more hardcore then ever, while the wii has been dead been for 2 years with out third party support and games and no online community, get real dude.

Why would I want any of the consoles to do bad? I'm far from a fanboy if that is what you assume. Hating consoles or companies is a childish thing I grew out of many years ago.. Besides, I'd like to be in the games industry in the near future, so I have a vested interest in a healthy industry, and that means all of the big three doing well.

I'm only going off evidence I've seen. The industry is in a bad state, and all signs seem to point to it getting far worse. I would list them all here, but I'd rather just do that in my own topic.. And I very much include Nintendo in this decline by the way.

just by comparing the ps4 to the wii u you have no idea what your talking about. its a whole different audience, all playstation consoles have did great numbers as gaming machines, the gamecube and n64 sold like crap, the wii sold to people interested in motion tech.

Title says it all, discuss :)

I am interested in reading all of your opinions.

EDIT: I meant can the poor performances of the wiiu be explained by the fact that people aren't so much interested in next gen dedicated gaming consoles.

Its really just the WiiU for now, the other 2 consoles haven't come out yet.

I suspect we're seeing a shrinking of the dedicated gaming market - 20-30% perhaps. At least for this generation, and mostly due to economics.

Lots of people could be tempted to buy a dedicated gaming device, but simply lack the disposable income to do so.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

I think it's mostly Nintendo's fault for not properly marketing the Wii U and showing gamers why it is good. A large part of it is that Nintendo has been very terrible at showing people any games are going to be on it in the future. This is about the stupidest form of marketing I have ever seen.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
