Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The 3DS is one of the main reasons WiiU isnt selling so good

I'm still pretty amazed that people think its selling that poorly. Look hardly any software for it has been released yet. As stated in the OP the Mario game was released but that might as well have been the port of the 3DS version that released a few months earlier. If the Wii U continues to sell "badly" after the following games have been released: Mario Kart U, Zelda U, Smash Bros U, Metroid U, Pikmin, Bayonetta, Luigi Mansion, etc. and after there has been a price cut of $50 which is likely to happen before new Xbox and playstation launches then we can talk about how badly it's selling. I'm just surprised that there are that many suckers who actually bought it now instead of waiting for something worthwhile to come out.

Edit: Not to mention it is the most expensive console on the market right now. When the new Xbox and playstation launch for $450+ each the Wii u will look much more appealing to the masses.

Bought cause ambassadors program. That thing is worth the value.

WiiU does need more games but obviously that will happen in time!
WiiU should also have the first real Pokemon on Nintendo Home system

All very good points. Although I don't like to think of myself as a sucker :P

The PS3, 360, PS4 and 720 are the main reasons why the WiiU isn't and won't be selling good...

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

The wait for game X reminds me of the GameCube days.

Wait for Mario Sunshine and Zelda and Mario Kart, then surely sales will pick up!

Nintendo's problem this time is that casuals are not going to buy this machine. Wii Sports/Wii Fit/Brain Training/Nintendogs are all yesterday's news and Nintendo Land is not succeeding in bringing in tons of casuals either.

The whole mini-game concept is old now, Just Dance probably has one more year of sales before it goes the way of Guitar Hero.

Wii U is going to be a platform primarily for Nintendo fans, I mean heck even Platinum Games are mostly the guys behind Viewtiful Joe and what not on the GameCube. It's very similar.

Honestly good riddance. Nintendo still made a profit with the GameCube, if casuals abandon, good I say. They were an unreliable, flakey market that wasn't interested in any core gaming outside of maybe a little bit of Mario and Mario Kart. That's why even with almost 100 million users, things like Xenoblade and Sin & Punishment could barely find an audience. Now they like 99 cent iOS games because that's what gaming is worth to them. Screw 'em, the sooner Nintendo gets the message that they're not coming back, the sooner they'll double down on making more games for their loyal audience.

Haha didn't really mean it. I own one too :/

I just said that to highlight the fact that Wii u is actually selling better than it is supposed to.

Valid points - even Pachter in his latest Pach-Attack talks about similar experience between 3DS and WiiU and 3DS offering better one. ;)

now lets look at the upcoming releases, WiiU has pikmin and bayonetta 2. while 3DS has luigi's mansion, pokemon and monster hunter. the 3DS is just a more attractive purchase when it comes to future releases as well. the first bayonetta game wasnt even released on the wii, why would nintendo fans care for it really?

Right, Bayonetta 2 has nothing to do on WiiU!

The problem with the Wii U is that the version that has the better value cost $350 and has limited games at the moment against the cheaper PS3 and Xbox 360 with a library of tons of games out and great games coming this year.

I agree we need games.

Switch!!!
