Forums - Sales Discussion - Gran Turismo 5 will pass 10 million lifetime sold in 2013

I think it's cool that will do 10 million and I think it may very well happen in 2013. But PLEASE! take the thing about Halo out. Even if it's true, it can only end badly leaving it up.

Let's see who's the first poster who will compare this to it and begin the whole thing going! I hope it will not happen though :D

10mil if bundled maybe. It would have to sell more this year than last, also every1 thinks that ps3 and x360 go down YoY so no.

So, apparently its ok to compare Halo Reach sales to GT5, but not Halo 4?

It's almost there, just a few more bundles should do the trick

I see what you mean, given your post history!

You oughta know though that bundeling is not the only way this game is selling.

Yes its still selling but mostly in Europe and most of the sales now are due to it being really cheap for a good while now.  It should have sold a lot better in Noth Amercia but the inclusion of NASCAR stock cars didn't do anything to boost sales there and it will contiue be the lowest selling game of the five main games.  Also the series is on a downward trend sales wise since the first game.  The only reason that Gran Turismo 3 is the best selling game in the franchise in North America is because it was heavily bundled I'm guessing about half its sales came through bundles the bundled version of the game which came with a different cover and says not for resale on the box is just as easily found used as the regular retail version.

I'll go with a qualified yes. If they give this away with PS+ or something like that, sales will drop off. Otherwise it should hit 10 million by the end of the year.

Its too big of a game (file size) to end up on PSN+.

That's what I was thinking.  Although they do have some huge games on PSN.  Do you know how big it would be, and if it would be bigger than any game currently there?  Black Ops is 18 GB.

In order to install a 10gb game you need 20gb free space, so I highly doubt it would be a good idea. Maybe prologue?

GT5P has been digitally available on the PSN for years already, but has not been given away as part of the instant game collection as of yet.

The comparison is silly in both cases.  The thread is better without the Halo Reach comment in the OP.  I wish he hadn't included that.

I agree that these Halo vs GT comparions are pointless, but at the same time, the barometer is measured by largest franchises for particular brands, rather than game content.

Still, if one topic remains open, then this one should too.

I agree that it should remain open, but I encourage the OP to set a good example and take that comment out.

The rest of us can continue the discussion.  Perhaps we could compare GT5 to other installments in the series and ignore the usual Sony vs. Microsoft thing, which is really getting repetitive.

This is a very good point. Lets keep the MS. VS. Sony thing out of this.
