Am I the only one who just picks randomly as he goes? Lulz. Or almost

Somewhat used imdb's top 250 as a guide.  Also looked over my movie collection.  Seven movies that I don't own made my top 50.

i use my collection and my brain lolz ::D

Chris Hu, is it The black cauldron?
That's the only traditionally animated Disney movie that made my short list, didn't make top 50 though.

You would probably have a easy time guessing the only anime movie that made my list.  Its made by Studio Ghibli but not directed by Hayao Miyazaki.  Also I'm guessing that Princess Mononoke will make your top 50 going by your avatar.

Grave of the fireflies would be my first guess.

I didn't include any movies I don't own in my list, and it came as a bit of a shock to me that I had never bothered to buy the Shawshank redemption. Fixed now, ordered from Amazon with Skyfall. I'll watch it again first before putting it in a top 50 though.
Hayao Miyazaki made my top 50 5 times, more then any other director. And yes I chose this avatar for a reason :)

Enjoying my coffee from this atm.

I think I have seen the great mouse detective, it looks familiar. However I would have seen it as De speurneuzen with Basil Holmuis. Dubbed in Dutch, formatted for tv, probably about 24 years ago. One to look out for.

You will have to wait.  The first one is ranked 28th the other two are 14th and 11th but could have easily made my top 10.   Since SvennoJ already guessed it one of them is Grave of the Fireflies at #28.

That's the one it will be #28 on my list.  Haven't watched The Great Mouse Detective for a while probably over ten years.  Also saw the formated version since I watched it on VHS.  Vincent Price does a excellent job voicing the villain.

49. A.I. Artificial Intelligence, 2001, Steven Spielberg

I had though Steven Spielberg would have made my top 50 more then once, but 49 is the highest he got. AI is an intriguing movie, imaginative far future sci-fi at its best, for a movie anyway. The Mad Max style robot games is a bit over the top, but the rest of the movie is great. Awesome big screen experience offering a lot to think about.

i can wait a month will be thrilling :))

Spielberg makes my list four times as a director and twice as one of the producers.
