Forums - Microsoft Discussion - My brand new Xbox 360 Slim just broke down on me! M$ Hates ME!!!

It can turn out to be a real frustration when you were completely into a game. RRODs have reduced very drastically since early 2010,with the release of Jesper models. Failure rate has been minimal though I've seen a couple of my friends having theirs failed twice.

I have a very good reason.

I love my Vita. I love my PSP. I love my PS2. And I love my PS1.

I hate my PS3.

o.O. That's some bad luck. You burned through 5(!) Xboxes? I think I'd have told MS to go f**k themselves after the second one.

Your personal experience with the Xbox 360 has simply defied the odds is all.

It's a statistical improbability, but sometimes you can flip a coin twenty times in a row and always have it come up heads.

The current model Xbox is much more reliable than previous models, but it still has an average failure rate, even for just off the assembly line hardware.

I've had unusually good luck with a Zephyr (first hardware update) model from 2007; no problems to date.

And I've had unusually bad luck with PS3s in general; far exceeding the average failure rates. Original CECH-A01 model died. The refurb I paid for also died. The CECH-H01 I originally bought to replace it died. And I also had to send in my brother in law's CECH-G01 for a refurb.

Well considering you have 5 Xbox 360s it is not that unlucky for one of them to break if HW fail rate is 10-30% for the consoles that you own. I consider myself unlucky though, 2 xbox 360s die on the same day. 100% fail rate for me lol and both was not RROD.

They hate you so badly that they paid you to fix the system?

How DARE they!

How about make a system that doesn't break so often in the first place ?

I hate be that guy, but it appears I have to be. Well, you might just be unlucky, but anything wierd about how you store them or things the kids might do when you are not looking?

Where I live is really dusty, so I have to clean my computer and Xbox every so often. Do you make sure it gets enough venting? I have a friend that even has his Xbox and PS3 Slim on the carpet and they are ok so far (his PS3 Fat died the same week the slim came out - timing!)

Anyway, sometimes things just happen. On my slim I had the hard drive getting noise, and I notice it was just a little bit off in alignment. Unplugged it, adjust the tray back just a tiny bit, and now it's fine.

Have they done an internal improvement to the Slim yet? It came out 2.5 years ago, they tweaked the older x360 all the time it seemed.

PS Hope it returns quickly.  Do you only send in the console and keep the Hard Drive?

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

My mates halo 4 Xbox stopped working about 2 weeks ago after the disc tray wouldn't open.
