And sales. Kiddy games we're huge sellers back in the day.

They still sell...unless you mean anything between 2010-2012 is "Back in the Day"

17 Super Mario 3D Land 3DS 2011 Platform Nintendo 3.60 2.11 1.78 0.53 8.03
21 Mario Kart 7 3DS 2011 Racing Nintendo 2.85 2.19 1.94 0.48 7.46
22 Super Mario Galaxy 2 Wii 2010 Platform Nintendo 3.36 2.04 0.98 0.62 7.00
31 New Super Mario Bros. 2 3DS 2012 Platform Nintendo 1.80 1.31 1.77 0.29 5.17

Edit : I suck at copy + pasting charts ;p

i meant other than Mario.

Then change the thread title, there is no reason to change subject now, is there?

I'm just asking a question. Every major franchise dies eventually. Ane yes even the almighty Call of Duty is going to die sometime.

Mario platformers will most likely die. But what nintendo can do is take thier next great game idea and slap the Mario sticker on it. Who knows what we'll see as a Mario game in 10 years.

Then why did you state "I meant other than Mario". To answer your OP once again but with a different question, can you give examples of several E-rated games going in decline.

Now to be relevant, of course Mario will eventually fade away.

I don't know any except for Little Big Planet 1.  ,2 and lbpvita took a dive.

Yes. Valar morghulis, after all.

But not for several decades, and the death will come in the form of becoming a lackluster series of cash-ins like Rayman did, with the possibility of rebirth always there (again, like Rayman).

If you mean "will they stop making Mario games", then no.

And this thread is horrible.  Do research.  You mentioned Halo and Call of Duty as being games kids are being raised on but completely ignored the fact that Mario Kart has sold more than 30 million.  New Super Mario Bros is what above 20m?  Then Super Mario Galaxy is close to 10m.  Super Mario World 3D is at like 6-8 and Mario Kart 7  is similar.  Those outsell halo and even thous Call of Duty is multiplatform New super mario Bros competes with it while Mario Kart Wii beat it.  People are still buying these games by the mass

Do you actually think kids would choose Mario over Call of Duty ? Be honest. i sure as hell don't

In any case, that's not what you said. You said that E-rated games are in a "huge" decline.

lets be honest, they kind of are. and thats quite sad. while mario still is the king of sales, what E rated game out there is selling good? skylanders is doing pretty good. littlebigplanet too. and lets just compare the number of released between adult games and E rated games. its quite sad there are a few games out there like sly cooper are getting released.  im mostly talking about games like mario and rayman legends that Wander is mostly talking about too. i wish things were different and we get more games like banjoo kazooi in the future

That justs shows how poor Sony marketed LBP Vita and Karting, although I don't know how it was marketed in other countries.

I've never seen a single ad for those games. If it wasn't for VGChartz I wouldn't even know they exist!

E-rated packaged console games on a decline yes, but for E-rated games in general, the market has never been bigger. Kids have access to Iphones and tablets now, I'm sure they spend a lot of time playing Angry Birds and Doodle jump and what not.

I totally agree with you on decreasing sales for console games.

They already are.  Let me show you how research works.

I would get really into the trends of each game blah blah but that seems like a lot of work for a comment.  If i made a thread it would be different.

Since 2006 mario has sold

117.46m on the Wii
55.86m on the DS
23.33m on the 3DS

Call of Duty since 2006

73.09m X360
56,47m PS3
7.37m Wii

Total since 2006

Mario = 176.65m
Call of Duty =  136.93m

Do your research before posting this kind of stuff.  This isn't even cosidering that every mario game is on one platform where as call of duty is multiplatform.
