Im seeing a lot of users over on NeoGaf calling bullshit on this article.

What reasons do they give? I'm quite interested.

I have seen this been tossed around a few times:  https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmSmlk-Wo4uhdEhXMy1GcmFERGQ2TGtkdll2OVBXNGc#gid=0

Thanks.

But wth are they bickering about then? 2,6 Billion loss is not too far away from 2,996 billion and 4,58 billion loss is not too far away from 4,9 billion loss. Is it the conclusion drawn in the article?

Tablets are getting more and more powerful, for me, if all next gen consoles are on par with WiiU, tablets will overcome them when it comes to power rapidly.

what is with skype, windows phone/mobile, zune and other stuff of the division? did they just use the whole division to talk about the financials of one product?

The news is even worse for Sony, with PS3 having registered a total loss for the company of $4.951bn.

All hail the king.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

The problem is that there is no division that only includes the Xbox or Playstation.

Look at what crissindahouse said. The Xbox is in a division with all those stuff and some of them could very well make huge losses and it would even include R&D costs of several devices that haven't been announced yet.

Zune is surely not making any money, Windows Phone probably not either, Surface definitely didn't make enough money yet to out balance the R&D investments etc.

Also since there is also no differentiation between consoles, it means that Xbox 720 and PS4 R&D costs are included as well as losses/profits of Xbox and PS2.

If you think MS is losing on the 360 then you have to consider what happened with the original XBox. MS was at a total loss in terms of profit to the point they were happy to pull the plug and rush out and make the 360. It's also been out for such a long time that if MS were bleeding the last few years they would have pushed for a newer system sooner.

I call BS.

It's just that simple.

Ah, I see. Thank you for pointing that out. I think I focused too much on comparing the numbers^^
