Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Important new Pokemon announcement on January 8 (Pokemon Gen 6?)

Anything Pokemon related is good news. Hopefully a main game and not a spinoff, or even a WiiU stadium title?

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

I'd say either Gen III remake

Urgh, I would not be happy about that. Gen III was probably the least popular so wouldn't make sense to do. Plus I don't think the jump from the GBA to 3DS is as big as from the Gameboy to GBA or Gameboy Colour to DS. Plus the remakes are getting a bit tiresome.

Here's hoping its not Gleaming Ruby and Glistening Sapphire.

Have you gone absolutely mad?! Gen III is the best gen out there.

Besides, Ruby and Sapphire are next in line for remakes. They wouldn't just skip over them because they didn't sell too well.

You'll probably find you're in the minority there. I liked the games, but they weren't not my favourite of the main series and Gen III does not hold the nostalgic sentiment that Gens I and II had.

Nintendo might not skip them but might not make anymore Pokemon remakes period (my preffered option). Gen

These games are pretty much the same just with inferior designs for the Pokemon each game.

Great, so Pokemon is CoD for Nintendo fans. I could care less! (Besides, you're wrong.)

I'm not really in the minority. Have you looked at how many posts have welcomed a Gen III remake? Quite a lot. And I'm sure Gen I and Gen II hold sentiment with you because that's what you grew up with, I didn't. I could care less about Gen I really.

I doubt Nintendo would do that so soon. They might put making remakes on hiatus after a Gen III remake, but not before.

If its Gen VI expect a late 2013/early 2014 release.

Hoping more for a Pokemon Stadium-esque Wii U game.

Me too. Pokemon Stadium FTW!!

Who said Ruby/Sapphire didn't sell well? There was a decline from the previous gen, but over 10m is still pretty darn high. There's no doubt that they will be remade eventually. That said, they won't be the 3DS' first games, gen 6 will need to come first, which is what I'm expecting this announcement to be about.

prepare yourself for a wi-fi event or some mobile app if their anything like square enix

There is a difference between somethign being not as popular and unpopular, which you appear to be missing. Ruby and Sapphire were never unpopular but generally I've seen that people preffered Red and Blue or Gold and Silver.

Given that the anime has reached the side-quest point (like it did in Gen III in the run up to DP), and Nintendo might look to build hype for Gen VI rather than do the remakes. I'd preffer it that way.

I'm not missing anything in your posts. I do know the difference between what you've said I don't.

Why are you asking me a question I already answered, though? I said that I could care less about Gen I meaning that, no, I don't really have a liking for it, like you. I don't hate it but that doesn't mean I have to really like it like you do.

Gen III remakes sounds like the most realistic option. I'm not sure if its true, it's not like I have a crystal ball or anything, but it just soundsthe most  logical of the options they have.

yeah I also think it will be a gen III remake for the 3DS, and I'd welcome it, gen III has my favorite starter(well final evolution wise...BLAZIKEN!!! the true fire/fighting starter before ninty ran out of ideas for fire starters!!! lol)
