Did you read the article? VEVO one of youtube's biggest revenue streaming channel. Sony and Universal have the upperhand here. |
So you think youtube won't be successful any longer?
Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

It's definitely possible that Google could start losing money on Youtube again, who knows?
There is no way to downplay music videos disappearing from Youtube as well as Youtubes second most active channel. Tons of people use Youtube to listen to their favorite songs and each time it loads up it is hosted by VEVO. Anything else gets taken down due to copyright laws.
I think they are going to settle and Universal and Sony will keep VEVO on Youtube but now get a much bigger cut of the profits.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)
So... according to what I gather here. Vevo is a Sony service that runs under youtube. However, all of the monies made on vevo belongs to youtube.
Now youtube is doomed because vevo is cut off?
First time I heard of Vevo, it must be huge.
galaki downplaying with spin as usual :P Nice to see you haven't lost your touch.
galaki here is how it works as a rational person has gathered.
Youtube hosts videos of original conent and allowed content only.
Youtube partnered with sony and universal in 09' to allow hosting of copyrighted content lik one direction and beyonce through a service called vevo, which is basically a subdomain of youtube that allows companies to set their ad revenue rates.
Meanwhile, companies still have videos on regular youtube, in specific channels.
Sony has moved all its videos and hits along with them to the subdomain vevo.
Vevo is youtubes number one revenue source (or close to it), as youtube makes a percentage of the rate profits. Sony and universal think youtube's cut is too big. The entirety of the vevo subdomain is controlled by sony, universal, and abudhabi media.
I don't like to have to switch between youtube and vevo but vevo has become undeniably big. Perhaps too big.
