Costa Rica been 30th above Portugal, Poland, Brazil & mexico looks good. But Chile above Japan? Am I missing something? Discuss...
Edit: I'd choose Japan or Singapur if given the chance! |
No comment on Chili, never been there. But Japan and Singapore are places I frequent. Neither place is THAT nice to be born.
Japan has been and at least as of today a victim of their 80s asset bubble. Even today, they boast the 3rd largest economy but the average person lives a very humbled life when you compare the size of their homes, costs to do everything. Their high income and thus high GDP is deceptive. It's like everytime you eat a mushroom, goombas grow too. Everything got bigger, but yu are still a shrimp in an ocean of whales. That's why there still has been deflation. Unless they grow a new heart and beat to a diferent drum, kids there are staring at a decading economy, and increasing irrelevancy as they stand on the margins of Rise of Asia. There's been nearly as many prime ministers over the last 5-6 years as versions Call of Duty. So if you desire a life caged in small adobe, packed 24/7 and endure listless societal energy (lowest birth rate on record this year), Japan is not where you wanna be. (Unless you just lust JRPGs).
Singapore is clean, efficient, melting pot of cultures, but just about the same size of a pot. When a City State gets so small, where no matter how many turns you take, you drive by Takashimaya again, that is like playing an MMO but stuck in starter town. And trust me Singlish is funny to hear until you realize it ain't no joke. And God forbid you commit a crime trivialized in most countries, your ass will be caned with a cane soaked in horse urine so that the scar will NEVER fade. Think Survivor mode is fun in games? Try living in real life in a country where weed larger than a quarter's size = death sentence. Great place to visit, great place to harbor assets, a place to sojourn, but no place to end up for life. (Unless you get drunk and commmit some crime and do life with Singlish speaking cell mates)
