Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Don’t count on late Wii U ports from Capcom

Bullshit. They ported a freaking Wii game to Wii U.....
I'm betting they port Resident Evil 6 as well....

Even though it is technically a port I would consider Monster Hunter Tri more like the ultimate (hence the name I guess) version of the game: 10 new big monsters, 15 new small monster, 2 or 3 new locations, more weapons, etc. So even if it is a port it's not an exact port of the original Wii game.

I've said it on here before but if both Nintendo and Capcom had any sense they'd work on bringing Nintendo Vs Capcom to the Wii U to keep fighting game fans happy until the next Super Smash Bros. game is released. It would be a huge seller and will also help to sell hardware. It's a win/win situation.

I'd also want them to play ZombiU and relearn how to make a proper survival horror game. Give us remakes of the first two games with the RE4-style over-the-shoulder camera, make ammo, herbs and other supplies scarce and - like ZombiU - make even a single zombie a threat to your character's life. Resident Evils 4-6 have been way too easy.

And a sequel to Okami and Zack & Wiki would also be mint.

Its a port with addional content just like all the other late ports on Wii U like Batman.

I can actually see them doing nintendo vs capcom at a later date. They are working closer with third parties now and throwing more nintendo themed prizes in some of the games. Smash bros will come first though.

If you want my honest opinion on n v c right now, it is an idea. Its something Ono threw out that people have kind of jumped on it.

One more thing to complete my year = senran kagura localization =D

Nintendo vs Capcom would be an excellent idea! Could easily have a roster of 100+. That would be awesome!

The Batman port only have a new suit and the previous DLCs. Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate offers a lot more content. Like I said is still a port, but it have a lot more content than regular ones.

DMC is out in just over a week for other platforms so that would make it a late port because a U version would be coming after the initial release same with RE6.

If that is the criteria, Capcom will not support the Wii U at all this year, everything they already announced is too advanced in development that they will not spend resources making a Wii U version. Maybe they will have something for holiday 2013 and is a big maybe. Late ports could help them fill the gaps, but it should not be a very late port, I think anything released 6 months apart should be fair game. Like DMC in july with all DLC included.

They never said their U projects would be out in 2013 outside of Tri Ultimate though, late ports generally don't do spectacularly as Mass Effect showed (both 3 on the U and 2 on PS3 suffered hard), this is because it's a new platform and a late port would of sold to the intended fanbase already on other platforms and Capcom seem to be recognizing this. Weighing things up how well would RE6 really do now on any other platform if released late? Most avid gamers would probably not be as interested given the mixed reaction it got.

It will be then a case of too little too late? Late ports don't do very well, true. But if the effort is small it could generate two advantages, first they make several teams familiar with the hardware quickly and second they can make a few bucks with little risk, besides they may be introducing the franchise to a new audience (like with DMC).

If they wait till 2014 to produce something for the console, they are leaving money on the table and I think is better to have some "not so late" ports than nothing at all.

Doing ports won't make their teams familiar with the hardware though, Darksiders 2 for one was ported over to the U by less then 10 people (it only took 3 people to get it running on the U), the U itself has a facility that easily accepts 360 assets with out too much tinkering. Building from the ground up will actually teach the teams more then ports in this case, Capcom are already heavily established among the Wii following they don't really need to go the route you suggest as that's more for newcomers like EA who never really tried before, they don't don't pump out loads of titles but give the userbase titles like TVC, MH, Z&W and the Chronicle games they're most likely continuing this approach much like how 3DS got Mercenaries and Revelations.

RE6 will come to Wii U, is just a matter of time, 5 in the other hand is debatable. I wish both come.
