The problem with this question is that most men think that they would be the same if they were women. The reality is, that isn't true at all. If you read up on transgender women (Male to Female), the men lose their sex drive. Essentially, they become like women, which makes sense.

So sex would become more about sense, sensuality, and emotion, and less about friction and orgasm.

If there was a one-time option to switch, than I'd want that to take place before puberty, but ideally I'd want to retain the male sex drive, no menstruation, and no pregnancy. Gay or Straight, if I had the option to switch to being a female, I wouldn't.

Why would a straight male want to be a female and why would a gay male want to be? The only type of male who would want to be is one who suffered from gender confusion or a Bi male who would opportunistically switch sex based on the need or desire.

Men who play the role of females (sissies or transvestites) are men, who act the part of a female because it brings them sexual arousal, not because they gender identify with women or want to be women. They get aroused by it because of their male sex drive.

Another problem with this question is that DNA aside, the problem with sexing in humans (likely all mammals) is that in males the components of the human anatomy that make women, women atrophy in men because of testosterone. What begins as a gland in the embryo, turns into the Uterus, Cervix, and upper portion of the Vagina. Once an embryo becomes male, and most certainly by the time puberty sets in, those components are long gone. In other words, becoming a woman is a one time thing.

All the parts that make a man a man, are present in a woman. In reality, it doesn't mean a woman can easily become a man, but in theory everything is there to do so. It's just need a LOT of reassignment. So, painful as it may be, a woman could change back and forth, though the longer she remained a male the more her Uterus, Cervix, and Vagina would atrophy.

For men, it would literally be a one way trip. There is only one time during the human biological process when it would be possible and that would be prior to sexing in the womb. Not to mention, the Estrogen would atrophy anything that makes a male a male including the penis and testes after a matter of months. So even if it could be reverse biologically, you would be sterile and likely end-up with a small/er penis.

Wow, that was a pretty good post.  I didn't think anyone would dwell that deep into it.  I don't really have too much to say about your post except that I enjoyed it.

From what I've read, a lot of guys start down the road of taking female hormones without understanding the long-term effects.   They want real breasts, but in order to get those you have to take female hormones for a LONG period of time (i.e. years for full development) and they are permanent without surgery.  After six months on hormones, the testicles become sterile, your ejaculate is clear  and after only a few months you lose 25% of your penis size.  Stay on it long enough, you can't obtain or typically maintain a normal erection, and wanking or penetrative sex becomes painful.  Not to mention both your penis and testicles continue to atrophy.   

Most transsexual female porn stars start on hormones then quit or take a low dosage once they develop some breast tissue.  Then, once they achieve that, they get implants.  That allows them to have a normal erection and have an ejaculate with sperm in it.  

In addition to your sex organs, your skin changes, your sweat changes, you body scent changes, you start accumulating fat in your hips and thighs, you begin to lose muscle mass, your blood pressure increases, your blood clots more easily, your sense of smell changes so you become more sensitive to a guys scent, your face will become rounder, your circulation changes so that you become more sensitive to the cold, you become more emotional, and you begin to remember things better.  If you were balding you may actually begin growing hair again.  If you had an enlarged prostate, it will shrink.

As sill as all that may sound (it may sound as if I'm listing off everything different about women) but they are actual changes the body develops once the female hormones exceed a certain amount. 

Oh...and you can also look forward to mood swings that are more erratic than the Lunar cycle women typically are on.  As well, what would seem like a cool thing, lactation, can be a sign of a deadly serious problem.  Though, ideally in your scenario, if you were to biologically transform, than your hormones would be better regulated.

The bottom line is, as males we can sometimes do some weird shit to get off.  Some guys have a physical or emotional desire to be night-time females/day-time males to be "happy".  And some of them make the mistake of self-administering female hormones without knowing what impact it'll have on them.  (No...not a reference at all to me...read the Internet.)

I dunno, I'd probably want to be a female regardless of all the problems they complain about (periods and pregnancy). I simply think socially it is a bit easier to handle in my situation.
Being a male means many things where I am living, and it is too stressful. Sexism exists on both sides.
