Forums - Sony Discussion - Did Kratos become Jesus/God?

But don't you think Kratos would be kind after everything he has been through? Like, forgiving etc? His journey is what eventually made him give hope to the world and become the kind god that many pray to. He has suffered so much and been through some insane shit that at the end of GoW3, he seems... unsatisfied. And if its true that he became the God of Death by killing Thanatos, then technically he is the god of all seeming as he kills everyone.

It also takes the Athena ghost thing into question -> She became an higher being of existance due to her sacrifice for Zeus. So maybe Kratos could be there too / even higher maybe?

xD I am just throwing around ideas, I hope I am not offending anyone. I, myself, am not really religious.

I just can't imagine Kratos as a peaceful being. But that could be my hatred for him blinding me, I just didn't like him as a character. At all. He just is a jerk. Surrounded by even bigger jerks.

The one part from that article made an idea pop into my head. It could be pretty sweet if Kratos was released from his anger after GoW 3 and became a god who served to protect earth - almost like Zeus except having good purpose/intentions. They could create a completely new series or trilogy where some evil force (are there any other gods remaining? If so, they could be the evil force; if not, a new evil?) rises to destroy earth/humanity, and the game follows Kratos as the person who has to protect it.

This opens up all new moveset possibilities. It also creates the ability for SSM to continue the GoW franchise for several games to come, and with a fresh new story/plot.

One of the most important purposes this could serve, imo, would be that Kratos, for the first time, could be an admirable, honorable, relatable character that the general population could actually respect.

To major GoW fans, this could sound like a horrible idea. Idt so tho, if it was done the right way. I've wanted to like the GoW games, but I can't bc I can't enjoy playing as a character who is so twisted and obsessed toward the SINGLE goal of brutal revenge. GoW 1 was actually pretty good, but after that his ruthlessness just got way worse, and his anger (and constant screaming) became annoying. Who can look up to a character like that?

After typing all this, i hesitated to even post it. Pretty off topic after my idea suggestion. Sorry:/

An interesting note: God of War III was released on March 16. 3:16 is a famous verse from the Bible.

John 3:16 - "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life".

KRAYTOZ! :'D, Fucking wanna know if its coincidence or not xD

The only people Kratos wont voluntarily kill are Spartans. There is zero Jesus in him when it comes to his temperment. The fates told the gods that they would fall at the hands of a marked warrior, this led the gods to do something that forever enraged Kratos regardless of whether he was related to them or not. I wont spoil that part for those who haven't played Ghost of Sparta.

Have you played Ghost of Sparta? It fills in the gaps as to why he's so angry at the start of God of War 2. Sucks that it took so long to happen.

It is amazing what you can do with technology these days. :P

But yeah, Kratos, Jesus, God, etc. characters are all as credibly real as one another, they are entirely based on written words woven into elaborate mythology.

They can be entertaining and teach valuable lessons, but people are often far too short sighted to see that.

They just want a literal 1 for 1, of the stories to be indisputable fact; the values, etc. that are actually important, might as well be those damn infomercials at 4 AM that an extremely small number of people will ever even give notice...

Guys you are missing a big point though when it comes to Kratos.

When he opend the box, he was filled with revenge/hatred whatever to himself whereas the other gods were given Fear. This is also why Kratos has such a lust for battle/killing/war in the beginning of GoW2 . Well that and the prophecy of the marked warrior and the fact on what happend in Ghost of Sparta. But that all fueled the gods to stop Kratos. Like.. the power inside the box made everyone act like ass holes and in turn make each other even bigger ass holes.

However since Kratos was the one who opend it, he was also given Hope which as Athena said, was locked deep inside of him.

Hope being a power that trumps all else and is the reason he in a way .."redeems" himself by killing himself and releasing it to the world after finishing every other god.

I believe Ascension will show us the TRUE Kratos. The Kratos we never really got to see.

Thoughts?

EDIT:

In the legend of Pandora, Pandora simply couldn't resist the temptation of what was inside Pandora's Box. Curiously opening the box, she released all of the world's evils;

"pride, wrath, sorrow, deceit, vain, glory, cowardice, hate, arrogance, gluttony, envy, vanity, lust, fear, greed, etc. "

"But as the post-credits scene reveals, Kratos was no longer on the ground. In his stead, a trail of blood led back to the sea, implying that he still refused to accept his fate. "

"Kratos reveals that all he saw was what he lost when asked by Athena what it was that changed him, when we look at his despair for losing Pandora and her message of hope and seeing his family and Pandora in the fear and chaos of his soul he states to Athena, "Look around everything is in ruins" which may indicate that when he says what he saw was what he lost then it becomes clear that he had lost hope. With the hope quote stating it is what we fight with when we have nothing else, if he has no hope then there is nothing to fight anymore so he kills himself. "

"Many assume Kratos has rewound his own thread of life yet again, after having stabbed himself, thereby seemingly enforcing upon himself another trip to the Underworld. His ultimate fate however, remains unknown, as at the end of the credits his body has disappeared, and a trail of blood leads off into the distance. "

No, I did.

So correct me if I'm wrong. This article says Kratos is Jesus or God now?

If so that would be wrong on so many levels considering Kratos is a complete asshole. God of War games are great but I never personally liked Kratos as a character.
