I have to say its quite irritating that they don't get the same 3rd party support. And to answer your question I'm over it. But there's a bigger question - - - Nintendo has noticed this problem, and though they have made moves, they haven't really shown and 3rd party system sellers yet. The big question is, if Nintendo fails to get BIG 3rd party support for the Wii U, what will they do? One more question, how can Nintendo win back 3rd parties without money?

Nintendo's problem is not 3rd party support... but rather the type of third party support

Just Dance is best selling on Wii

Call of Duty is best selling on X360

Developers and Publishers make their games available where they sell... there is no conspiracy. The Nintendo fans are either buying casual games like Just Dance or Nintendo 1st party games over whatever you people are expecting as 3rd party support.

Where there is a clear conspiracy is Amazon.com doing as poor as possible to not promote Nintendo products because they ended up in a pissing war with Nintendo with the 3DS something and things are still very sour.

I agree with you that there is no conspiracy with third party publishers and developers.  They go where they think the profit is, plain and simple.

However, the Amazon situation isn't what I would call a conspiracy, either.  I'm sure they'd love to sell Nintendo products but there has to be something important standing in the way--and I'm not so sure I would jump to the conclusion that the fault is only on Amazon's end.  The last rumor I read was that Amazon makes so little from Nintendo hardware, and that they think Nintendo is difficult to deal with on returns, so they decided to just stop selling the consoles.  Won't hurt them much at all, if that's true, as the games are where the money is at.

I am constantly seeing people say, " You know that Nintendo systems do not get 3rd party support, so why you mad?" Or I see," That is what you get for only owning one system", and " You buy Nintendo systems for Nintendo 1st party games."

So I guess I am the only one that cares that Nintendo has to beg like a dog to get support? Or are these people just trolls or Console fan boys who say this sort of stuff to me?

They may be trolls or fanboys, but their comments aren't untrue.

The issue is threefold with Nintendo.

Firstly their exclusives are niche. Games sell consoles and the issue with Nintendo is that many of their franchises are not considered core or mature games. As it is seen at the moment, "mature" games sell well, such as Call of Duty. Zelda on the other hand, from the outset, would seem to appeal to a younger audience. This therefore detracts publishers of releasing mature games on a console that sells due to non-mature games.

Secondly, Nintendo is not western. This means that both the games that are exlcusives appeal mainly to a smaller, foreign audience. Also it may create issues when creating contracts. Fortune had a good article on it stating how Western and Japanese buisnesses settle contracts is very different.

Thirdly, the Wii sealed their fate. With the Wii being a casual console, this means that devs didn't bother with it (as well as limited hardware); they just went for the 360 and PS3. Therefore with the devs focusing on two consoles, that is where the devs customers will be. With the Wii U offering the same power as the existing consoles, devs have no incentive to make Wii U games as core gamers are already found on the 360 & PS3. If the Wii had offered many core games, then the spread of core gamers would be wider which would make developing for the Wii U more attractive as there would be core gamers on the Wii looking to upgrade. As it stands, the Wii U isn't offering an upgrade from the PS3 or 360 for core gamers.

From the lack of support for the Wii U, and the abysmal adverts that don't push it as a new system, it may end up going the way of the GC.

Also articles like this:
http://www.gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=192666
And the one to do with a whole 42 Madden players will once again make devs feel that the Wii U is not a console for core gamers. That plus the wiiu not being as "in" as the wii paints a very grim picture for it.

I'm not "over" it, it still bugs me because this is an issue that was mostly caused by Nintendo. Its just something you expect from them at this point, and you just have to hope for things to change in the future. I have a pretty good gaming PC and usually get Sony's console each gen, so I can play most games that end up missing a Ninty console anyway.

I buy nintendo systems to play mario, zelda, metroid, star fox, smash, mario kart... Basically 1st party games, 3rd party games are welcome, but if they don't show up to the party I don't miss then.

Nintendo gets less third party support. LESS. Not none.

I've bought less third parties games since the GC era. Third party companies supported the GC decently. If you stick with the Nintendo + PC combo then you don't really miss out on too much except Sony exclusives.

Or all those Japanese games that dont get released on PC, Final Fantasy, Tales, Tekken, Metal Gear (most of em), Mortal Kombat (thats not Japanese I know), just to name a few.

True but I don't think I am missing out that much considering I don't really give a damn about any of those games.  Played Tekken Tag 2 PS3 at friends and it felt almost like every other Tekken.  If I am able to beat them more than they can beat me just by picking up the game and using my old fav character Nina (and a few other characters) then that game doesn't excite me that much.  Now take a game like Smash with cheap items on limit and a pro would never lose to someone that just picked up the game.  Sure you can say Smash doesn't change much but at least it isn't a button smasher.

I used to buy other systems for third party support, but not anymore. At the risk of over-generalizing, it feels like to me a lot of 'popular' games these days that are being released are shooters. I wanted so badly to want a PS3 and to justify purchasing it. There are a few games for that system I'd love to play and some my husband has been waiting to play. We waited for years, but Sony wanted too much for the system to justify the jump during those times. Only now is it at a price point I'm willing to pay, but I'm already moved on mentally into the next gen. For all I know, PS4 will  have backwards compability and if it's not too expensive, I will consider that. I'm tired of rehashes of old games and just tweaking some ideas and releasing whole new games off them too seems more common too. It's like the industry has run dry. Our discretionary income has gone to other things in the meantime.. like upgrading and building our PC, my Graphic Design stuff like my two drawing tablets... they're not cheap...The exception has been owning two PSPs (one for me and the husband), but even with that I feel burned by those purchases. I got a DS late in the game and I'm regretting it because I'm still trying to catch up. I'm still playing games I missed from the other eras.

I know there are exceptions, but a lot out there doesn't really excite me like it used to. My bread and butter was RPGs back in the SNES/PS1 era. And platformers, random interesting NES games before that. Megaman, etc... I'm female too if that counts, so the types of games that appeal to male gamers that are violent won't have the same appeal with me. I play God games (populus, SimCity), and occasionally Sims. I don't like Sims3 though, but I have all of Sims 2.

I don't like the color palette on a lot of the newer "realistic" games either and I feel the options for my demographic, especially RPG style-gamer, out there are so slim... I don't wanna play a shitty brown colored game, I want a colorful game that engages my imagination. I don't care if this looks realistic and like real life and is 'photo-like'. Usually I play games when I'm having a block and I like games that trigger your imagination more than just spelling it out for you . I know a lot of people, both sexes, that have simply stopped playing consoles and have switched back to PC... just because most games that are on those systems that they like are on PC too (and look better).

So what I will say for Nintendo is at least they are listening to my type of customer and providing them what they want. I feel like Sony misses the mark so ofte with me personally, that I have been turned off by their brand as of late, to be completely honest. Mario and Zelda aren't all the shiznit. They release Rune Factory and Harvest Moon, series I adore for these systems. I have yet to try Animal Crossing, but I should probably get into it...

I miss PS1 era Sony. PS2 was good too, but PS1 was way better.

I know it sounds like a lot of complaining and shitting on other systems. I want so badly to be excited and interested in what else is out there... but I feel like the market has forgotten my niche. I have a few reasons to buy a PS3, but I just can't justify dropping the money after all this time just a few games when we're already moving into next gen. I bought my Wii not too long after release and it has gave me plenty of hours of fun. Sure it sometimes sits, but I have a busy life too and was going to school full-time. It has filled it's purpose very well.

This is a theory I'm interested in. I think this too is also true, aside from lack of third party support... Nintendo knows the demographic they cater to and nobody can deny, they cater to it very well which is why they still are around. It just so happens some of the companies that release games for the Wii also released games I would be into. It served my needs for the meantime. I can't really argue, I got my money's worth in purchasing the system. So if I am "over it", I guess I am over worrying about it... as long as they keep getting games I will actually play. The shooters can stay on the other systems if it will benefit from that hardware the most.

As someone who grew up with the NES/SNES, I've begrudgingly accepted it.

The thing that sucks about it is, this isn't the Nintendo I really grew up with. During the NES days *the* reason you bought a Nintendo was because it had all the games -- not just Mario, but Contra, Megaman, Double Dragon II, Wizards & Warriors, Ninja Turtles, Duck Tales, Blaster Master, Metal Gear, Castlevania, etc.

The Sega Master System had some good games, particularly those from Sega themselves, but didn't have the variety of support from other developers.

So somehow over the years, the Nintendo console has become the Sega Master System, lol.

If you grew up with the N64 or afterwards though, really ... what are you complaining about. This has been the same story for 15+ years now.

I don't really care. I'm a Nintendo console-only person who does not care about western games at all and I have more than enough games to play. If western third-parties don't want to bring their games to Nintendo consoles, that's their loss.

Well maybe the wiiu will change this with third party support..
