Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Are you over Nintendo systems not having 3rd party support?

I'm not over it ,but I have come to accept it. Owning a Nintendo console that gets all the multiplats and gets exclusive third party games is still my fondest desire, but I know it's not going to happen. They just don't release hardware that is powerful enough. Gamecube received most of the multiplats, and third party exclusives along with having some amazing first party, that in my mind is the best console ever. Too bad it sold so terribly. If the Wii U fails, I could see Nintendo going for a system more like the Gamecube. At least, that's my greatest wish. Until that point,I just have to own a Sony system along with my Nintendo system.

I have to say its quite irritating that they don't get the same 3rd party support. And to answer your question I'm over it. But there's a bigger question - - - Nintendo has noticed this problem, and though they have made moves, they haven't really shown and 3rd party system sellers yet. The big question is, if Nintendo fails to get BIG 3rd party support for the Wii U, what will they do? One more question, how can Nintendo win back 3rd parties without money?

They're doing it already and from what ive seen they are doing a decent job of it, problem is that they are a few years late to the party. Most people have bought other systems for 3rd party games. I mean they went 3 whole GENS with bad to mediocore support, what are people supposed to do? NOT get PS/Xbox/PC to play those games? They could but then they would have to understand they are putting themselves in a position where they are going to miss stuff.

Perhaps this is where the Bayonetta 2 debacle fits in. Perhaps Nintendo needs not only multiplat, but exclusive games to make their console more elusive and I have a feeling they got more of this up their sleeves. I think they can pull it off. It's just a matter of what and when.

You have more faith than i do, the Bayonetta thing was different its not like there are a slew of IPs that they can or will just bring to life, IMHO the days of 3rd party exclusives are going away anyway, not matter what anyone tries to do, I could be wrong.

I buy Nintendo systems for Nintendo games. I do buy a 3rd party game for Nintendo systems here and there. Nintendo Handhelds are a different story. I buy both 1st and 3rd party games in equal number.

I doesn't both me that Nintendo systems get less 3rd party support because I just buy 3rd party games on other systems.

When I buy a Wii U I can guarantee it will be for Mario, Zelda, or Metroid.

As a long time Nintendo I think it would be super cool if we could have all the 3rd party support with all Nintendo platforms, so I don't even need to consider getting a system from Sony (as I would never ever get anything from MS).
On the other hand, I am starting to believe that Nintendo's current policy towards 3rd parties is doing more damage than good. Case in point, the 3DS lineup since it was released. Aside from the two Mario games last year, which looked more like damage control than anything else, Nintendo releases these days are fewer and farther between than usual. And it seems they plan to keep doing that with the Wii U.
So IMHO I would prefer to get more Nintendo titles even if that means fewer 3rd party titles.
Ad to be honest I don't think their plan is going to work anyway. The portable market is quickly changing, especially in NA, so I just don't see western developers committing to the 3DS. And at the same time, I just don't see western developers committing to the Wii U either, as for them it is always easier to keep releasing the same games with enhanced graphic on more powerful hardware than investing the time to come up with anything really creative for the game pad. IMHO if Nintendo really wanted better 3rd party support with their next gen console, then they should have come with a more powerful hardware.

You're really missing out on Halo games. I don't know why you hate MS, but Halo is worth crossing your imaginary line in the sand.

nope 3rd parties are super important to me. Reason being that they bring in the most new ip in a gen and my favorite games this gen happen to be new ip's .

Nintendo is better off without 3rd party. what 3rd party game sold more then Wii sports? and Nentindos franchises do better then the majority of 3rd party games anyway.

nintendo has the best 1st party, not to worries about 3rd party support. Althought it would be nice.

WII U // PC // 3ds XL // VITA

I've always been a Nintendo fan so not having much 3rd party support doesn't really concerned me all that much. I do have a PC for those games that I'm interested in. I would like to Nintendo consoles to have more support but unfortunately unless Nintendo makes some big incentives for developers most of those games will never come to the system, regardless of the Wii U's power.

I do believe Nintendo is making some right choices, for one, making Bayonetta 2 an exclusive, sure it is kinda a niche tittle but hey it's a start. And I do believe there may some surprises in the future, not going to get my hypes up but I'm optimistic.

Nintendo's problem is not 3rd party support... but rather the type of third party support

Just Dance is best selling on Wii

Call of Duty is best selling on X360

Developers and Publishers make their games available where they sell... there is no conspiracy. The Nintendo fans are either buying casual games like Just Dance or Nintendo 1st party games over whatever you people are expecting as 3rd party support.

Where there is a clear conspiracy is Amazon.com doing as poor as possible to not promote Nintendo products because they ended up in a pissing war with Nintendo with the 3DS something and things are still very sour.

Being as objective as possible, I don't think Nintendo can be so naive as to expect that western developers are going to support them if they don't offer competitive hardware, or a business model that makes more sense considering current market trends (in case of portable software). Do they really expect western developers to start creating "new types of game experiences" using the game pad? Can they keep selling software at $40 for the 3DS when one can get games for free on smartphones and tablets?
In fact, the problem with Iwata's Nintendo is that they force us to choose between some sort of innovation versus state of art 3rd party support/cheaper software. If you ask me, this is all a matter of what they think is going to make them more money, the rest is just PR bulls***t. This generation will prove if Iwata is right or not, but to be honest I am not that optimistic.
