Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Only 42 people playing Madden on WiiU.

Who the fuck buys Wii U to play Madden anyway?

That's like buying a car because you want a radio :P

And herein lies Nintendos problem. back in the day everyone would play Madden on a nintendo console. Nowadays if you dont like Nintendo 1st party direction, then theres no point to ninty consoles. Every single best 3rd party game basically doesnt come out on ninty machines.

Wiiu was in 3rd place before the first week japan numbers, in 2 weeks it'll be back in 3rd place.

That's not what we were talking about. Answer my question. How was it an "educated" guess when clearly it was just random nonsense being thrown out as if it were facts. You haven't made a point, and you clearly are struggling to stay in this conversation lol.

What is your point? Do you have a stance on the subject,do you disagree? I'm not sure what point your trying to make. You're not even on topic lol.

@bold. I guess I have to explain... but keep in mind this is your thread, the link should be clearer to you than anyone else, but here I go.

In OP you mention that only 42 people are playing Madden on WiiU, you then go on to say ITT that there will be no more Madden game on WiiU.

Poster happysqurriel comes in and gives an explanation for the number in OP, one of which being that people have received the U as a gift and the numbers may be dampened. You deny it by requiring facts, which nobody has for such statistic (who has/who hasn't received the U as a gift).

I come in doing two things: the first is asking you to explain the sales boost during the holidays for Nintendo. We know the answer to that, and it's that Nintendo's main market is families and makes its main sales during the Christmas season. We know that Christmas is the gift-giving season so it is a reasonable speculation to think that many are given as gifts. The second thing I do is give you a means to measure his claim: by looking at the online numbers trend from Dec 25th to Jan 1st.

Instead of discussing (this is a thread after all), you require facts (which we obviously do not have and can work with analysis and speculation for certain variables at best) and say that I'm off topic.

*Applause*

I've also learned that people who regularly use "lol" in debate are not committed to discussion but are engaged in ridiculing other users, so enjoy your sausage fest, I'm out.

I blew a pile of money and bought 6 excellent WiiU games. 4 third party. Madden wasn't even on my radar.

I remember there being less than 150 playing Call of Duty one day, too. I think it's awesome. No stress on the servers, no 5 year olds screaming into the mic, no need to buy a mic.

Why do you guys always look at the bad side of things?

small userbase = not many users

I have data to support what I stated, it's the 42 users online and only 1 currently playing.

How do you make an "educated guess" when you have NO CLUE as to how many people bought the game lol.. It's not "educated" if he just makes a random guess. That's just called a "Guess."

Then explain the massive sales jumps for Nintendo during the holiday season.

GO

it is an "educated" guess when you know that sales of game consoles increase a lot weeks before christmas because people buy them as gifts and those consoles obviously aren't connected to the tv nor the internet before people get those gifts.

just check the last weeks since wii u release and count the whole sales of ps3, wii and 360 and compare them with three weeks in october. do you know what you will get then? a huge difference in sales which most of them will be christmas gifts.

now wii u won't have such a big part for christmas gifts because some bought the new console for themselve but it will be still easily a big part. or do you think no one will get a wii u for christmas?

Interesting, only 42 online you say. Riddle me this, when exactly did the Wii U launch?

NINTENDO

BRAVO CAPTAIN OBVIOUS!

Now for the posts that look into the reasons a little more deeply, which is more interesting overall.

Who would have thought that a version of a game released 3 months late, is missing a lot of features and is considered inferior to the competition, on a new platform that still has a tiny userbase and a large portion of which won't open their system for 8 days, would not have a lot of people playing the game?

yeah that could be true, how many percent of let's say the black friday consoles are gifts for christmas? i would say a lot and probably also a big part of those sold since then. we could have more consoles hidden anywhere in the garage as connected to the tv^^

still seems little bit low to me, that's 740 xbox players to 1 wii u player. madden sold 1.5m on 360. 1.5m/740 = 2k. so, even with 50% of consoles not connected to the tv or even more it really seems as if madden didn't sell so great compared to other wii u games.

but if it's true what you said about the missing features it could be one reason. other reason is that every big madden fan who already owned a 360/ps3 should own the game already and doesn't buy it a second time for wii u then. that could be totally different next year.

the other reason i would believe is that people who buy a new console want a game only for that console (nsmbu or zombi u) or something which isn't just a yearly iteration. i really like fifa games but fifa wouldn't be a game i would buy with my new console.

There is one other factor I forgot to mention ...

This is a comparison of people playing the game online, and (being that Nintendo doesn't focus much on online gameplay) I think the Wii U probably attracts gamers who are less interested in online gamplay.

i also forgot something, i used 1.5m madden sales for 360 but this was already 15 weeks on the market. after three weeks madden for 360 had "only" 1m sales. so i gave the 360 an unfair advantage of 500k games which people can play online.

It is annoying that kotaku always tries to bash the Wii U since it was announced. Yes kotaku visitors numbers are decreasing since a year now and the people behind are desperate, but do they really think such articles will increase visitors numbers?
