While I agree with the parenting part, because it's usually the parents who fuck up especially in the US where even touching your child could get them sent away due to "abuse," but guns don't kill people, people kill people. A lot of ignorance by different sources don't understand that the common use of guns is mostly for hunting or self defense and in a country as large as the US where the population is more spread out, it's actually needed in a lot of areas especially where wild life roam about.
You take guns away and people will kill with knives before sealing the door off, you take knives away and people will kill with rocks, you take the rocks away and people will find whatever tool they can get to kill people, you chop people's arms off and they will kick others to death, you chop off the arms and legs and people will headbutt other people to death, then the only solution would be to chop everybody's heads off and kill the entire human race. You however won't be able to kill a big ass brown bear that's trying to eat your ass with a knife, you are going to fucking die! Gun control is simply the government scared shitless of any real possible rebellion by it's citizens in case they do a really shitty job of running a country, and the more poor the citizens are, the more likely they are to turn those barrels to the government to start revolutions.
Oh and a lot of people go mad because of shitty parenting, so your first point already is about 75% of the problem if not more.

First of all, bullets are what actually kill people.
Secondly, gun control laws are almost always aimed at handguns and assault weapons. Long guns, including shotguns, are used in very few violent crimes and are recognized as having legimate uses. You'll never see hunting weapons banned. No need to worry about brown bears.
The problem is really with none of those things. It's simply that the United States is absolutely saturated with handguns. Anyone can get a gun somehow if they want one. I was in 7th grade the first time someone tried to sell me a handgun. The Police destroy millions of guns a year but it barely leaves a dent. Trying to get rid of guns now is pretty much impossible.
In the end, if you live in the United States, you just have to accept that anyone can easily get a gun; criminals, people with mental problems, children, anyone at all. People here value guns more than lives. Living here means you accept that you or your love ones can easily be involved in a gun related fatality at any moment. It's just the way it is.

You can't argue with good hollow point ammo, that's for sure, if somebody comes in my house without my permission with a weapon in hand, you can bet I'd much prefer a 9mm or a 45ACP over any hunting rifle or a shotgun, and I'll always have Russian ammo with steel core ready for assholes wearing body armors and try to fuck with me, the key is still self defense. There are too many dumb fucks not taught right and that's still a parenting issue.
A lot of people can get guns anywhere in the world even if they are banned, the police a lot of times end up surplusing the guns unless they are not street legal for their funding and they usually go to the right people who don't fuck around with it, there are definitely laws involved on full automatic weapons that are made after 1986 so those either get destroyed or some corrupted fuckers will make sure they go into the black market again anyways. Guns are the new bows and arrows of the old days, people need to deal with it.
Those people can not legally own firearms unless they do it illegally, which once again, is not the fault of legit sellers and buyers who treat them right but either their own fault or their dumb ass fucking parents. You can get guns in other ways even in countries that have guns entirely banned, and people will still kill people without guns or bullets. I can not stress enough about how fucked up parenting can be in the US these days, the old old American way is much better in my book and I'm not even old, the current way is a fucking joke with no discipline or know how, and a lot of parents like to blame other things because it is NEVER their fault.
