Forums - Gaming Discussion - The old adage that Xbox 360 Exclusives Sell So Much Better than Playstation 3 Exclusives is a Myth!

It's not a myth. There is other threads like this. That has the entire view count but this is the only one I have that I could find quickly

I don't understand why kinect adventures is being removed from the equation. For every kinect adventures bundle sold with a 360, some random ps3 exclusive is being bundled with a ps3.

What difference does it make if its Uncharted 2, Infamous, Forza 4, or Kinect Adventures in the bundle. None of those games are an actual sale.

And when you add them all up, total bundled games sold for each system each year will be around the same, especially considering how poorly kinect 360s sell on none holiday months.

Basically every single ps3 and 360 sold during the holiday months is bundled with at least 1 game, usually more. So it either makes sense to keep all bundled sales or remove them all. Since we can't remove them all because we don't know the exact amounts for each game, they should all be kept for comparisions.

Bolded for truth.

Correct. The two consoles seem equal in their ability to sell exclusives, aside from Kinect/MOVE of course ( the 360 has the PS3 beat in the motion controlled games).

Earlier in the generation, 360 exclusives were a lot bigger than PS3 exclusives. But with more recent active franchises the two consoles are about equal. From 2010-present, they have been virtually the same.

Gran Turismo is about equal to Halo. Uncharted about equal to Gears of War. God of War about equal to Forza. The PS3 doesn't appear to have another 4-5m seller to match Fable. There is LittleBIGPLANET, but it appears to have dropped off. On the other hand, a great deal of Forza owners are so by virtue of bundles, considerably moreso than any of the other games. So I think they even out.

After that, the 360 doesn't seem to have many more active exclusives franchises. While the PS3 has a lot of small-medium sized IPs (Killzone, infamous, etc).

What gives the 360 an advantage isn't the fact that the console is somehow much better than the PS3 at pushing exclusives. It's the fact that from 2005-2009, the 360 pretty much dominated the PS3. And of course, the 360's biggest franchises had plenty of installments and became big a lot earlier than the PS3. The PS3 really started late with getting its big games. But now, its about even with the 360.

Since that list came out Uncharted 2 has moved much closer to 6 million and is on the verge of passing the original Gears of War and Uncharted 3 has sold 400,00 more units.  Plus it leaves out Metal Gear Solid 4's 5.71 Million in sales.

Goes both ways bro.  This was also before halo 4......

This list is actually very nice because it leaves out arcade games.  Minecraft 360 alone has sold close to 5 million copies

i never understood that "exclusives sell soo much better on 360", 360 has a lead in sold software and in sold games per console but that's only an advantage of maybe 15% or something (don't really have the numbers). people can argue about different franchises but overall?

and for both consoles, exclusives are probably only a small part of whole sold software.

if there are people who could say exclusives sell so great it is nintendo fans. mario kart alone sold what? 25m or something?

Console exclusive.  But that is not what the list is.  People will have different opinions so published is the way you can go.  Check the list, it says right there published.  Some people doesnt understand how businesses work and honestly it is kind of annoying for a site that is based around sells.

I really don't think that a difference in the few millions really equals the 360 thrashing the PS3.  Maybe if it was beating the PS3 by a hundred million it could claim that.  Nor do I really think that just because one series sells ridicuosly well on 360 that really doesn't mean every series on 360 does perform phenomenally well in comparison to every series on PS3 as many 360 fans claim.

You are right, 360 fans shouldnt bash on the PS3, but you made this thread and it's not a myth when it is true.  If you don't want discussions like this then don't make threads like this comparing the two head to head.  It never ends well.
