Forums - Nintendo Discussion - DK Crash Course! NL: How far have you come?

Took a long time, but I finally managed to finish Stage 40 yesterday. Took 570 seconds so nearly ran up to the time, but it was worth it!

Quite enjoyed speed-running the first 10 stages. Think 75 seconds is my fastest. Starting to speed-run the second set now, but I oft fail because of going too quickly in either 5 or 8 and crashing.

It all seems so easy, actually. Dunno how I ever struggled at it. To answer your question, in Stage 10 go slowly down the ramps collecting the coins until you reach the last one (right-->left), then flick it left quickly and change it back to the middle. It's hard, but when you do it once you'll 'get' it and be able to do it all the time.

Damn you must be attacking it pretty hard.   You sound like a pro.  I just got to about stage 5 on the second course.  The one where you go down in a big cage and have to tilt it upside down then go down it again to get out or something like that.  I just got to it so I should figure it out soon.

Yeah I think I've played it...28 times now? The trick is pressing y to reset, and just re-doing one area over and over and over without losing a life until you get it.

The cage one took me some time to grasp. It's pretty straightforward when you figure it out, so I shalln't spoil it for you here. The killer I feel is Stage 9 in this one. Rotating the Gamepad to a point where it says 'Don't tilt the Gamepad so much' is frustrating.

I'm stuck on stage 9 ...

Don't follow Roma's advice with tilting while jumping.  It might work but there shouldn't be any reason to need to tilt it during that section.  I just hit the r button with a good quick press (like a normal button press).  It should just launch you to each one without tipping you over.  It is all about having the right button press.

haha it works very well for me actually. I tried your way once and it did not work so I never tried it again as it was hard enough getting there to begin with but will try it again now since I get there pretty easy.

Yea perhaps your way might work best for you.  It is all about getting the button press right to do it without any tilting I suppose on that section.  I was stumped on it for a sec but I just kept trying till I found the right press.

This game really does have an NES-era type charm to it. I find myself compelled to keep playing just as i did with games like Wrecking Crew and Ice Climber.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

It was super hard...then I realized I was doing it wrnog, i.e. not holding the pad perpendicular to the floor. After that, I basically crushed it.

I can't get those area 9 jumps at all. I just die as soon as i get into the gauntlet.

what is this stage 40 nonsense?  I beat the DK game the first day I got it and it just sayed stay tuned for more DK in the future.  Have they already added more stages?

When you finish the game and get the star after the first 10 areas, if you re-play it and do it again then it takes you on past the Area 10 flag. This flips the board around where there's 10 more areas. Again, after doing these 20, if you return and do it again then it allows you to flip the board around once more and do another 20 stages, similar the the first 20 but much more difficult.
